The Ultimate App

An inventor creates an app for everything

Chapter 1 by HanTrollo HanTrollo

Lester Hawthorne was a man. He'd quit a lucrative computer engineering job to try his luck as an independent inventor. But he hadn't managed to create anything of value. Les's funds were dwindling, and if he didn't come up with a profitable idea soon, he'd be to sell his house and take another job he hated to get by.

Les was working on a dating app that would compile profiles from multiple services in order to provide the perfect match. He'd had virtually no luck at creating a workable interface and was beyond frustrated at his continuing failures. Les slammed a fist down onto his keyboard after failing to program any useful code. When he looked up at the screen, he realized that he'd just possibly lucked into an impossible breakthrough.

He spent the next several hours reviewing his accidental discovery before feeling confident enough to try and execute the programming. He entered a name into the app and then toggled a few settings, adjusted a couple of sliders, reviewed his work and hit the "enter" button on his phone.

A blinding flash of light exploded from his mobile device, leaving Les temporarily blinded. He blinked several times, noticing a blurry silhouette standing in his lab. As his vision slowly returned, he was shocked to see that his app had worked perfectly, evident by the sudden appearance of Jennifer Love Hewitt standing before him, completely motionless.

He decided to test the other features of his invention, adjusting a few more settings in Love's profile and then saving the changes. The actress was engulfed in light, and when it faded, she looked 19 again. Les only had one test left before he knew that his app was fully functional, and it was going to be a fun experiment.

The test
