The Sissification of a Hero

Deku is a hero no more

Chapter 1 by Clutterspunk Clutterspunk

Izuku Midoriya loved being a hero. He loved saving people with a smile and giving strength to the weak. He loved the feeling of doing something great and the happiness that followed from the people around him. Something he did not love however was paperwork. Sadly however, with great responsibility comes a great amount of paper-work. Especially if you're the number one hero with your own hero agency.

Izuku groaned loudly and put the pen down as he finished his fourth damage report of the day. He rubbed his eyes and slapped himself on the cheeks, trying and failing miserably in staying awake. Izuku looked at the phone laying still and quiet beside him, silently praying for a call or a distraction or anything to keep him off the paperwork. But the phone never went off. Izuku groaned again and leaned over to pick up another damage report. Then, there was a knock on his door.

Izuku looked up, hope quickly filling his heart. Yes, a distraction!

"Come in," shouted Izuku with a little too much enthusiasm.

The door opened and a teenager stepped inside. Izuku recognized him immediately. It was one of the three UA students doing their work-studies at his agency, Yuyu Yamamoto.

"Hello, Yamamoto," said Izuku warmly. "Anything I can do for you?"

Yamamoto shuffled nervously in place, completely flustered at being adressed so casually by the number one hero Deku. "Uh, sorry for disturbing you, sir, but Miss Nakashi told me to tell you that you're needed in the outskirts of Tokyo. Down by the warehouses at the water. Apparently, there is a shoot-out going on between two gangs."

Izuku raised his eyebrows. This was exactly what he needed.

"Tell Miss Nakashi that I'm on it," said Izuku, standing up from behind his desk. "I want you to stay here and monitor transmissions. It'll be a valuable experience. Talk to your friends and tell them to be ready. I'll call on you for reinforcements if needed."

Izuku opened a window, winked at Yamamoto and threw himself outside. Like a real-life Spiderman, he lunged between the buildings with the help of Blackwhip - quickly reaching the warehouses by the water. He looked around from his high position, but couldn't hear or see any shooting. But Izuku knew better than to relax. There was still a chance that the perpetrators were here.

Slowly he ascended, quietly landing outside one of the big warehouses. He listened intently, but the only sound he could hear was the slow clucking of the waves. Izuku felt the door handle to the entrance and found it to be unlocked. He slipped inside, being careful to make as little noise as possible.

The inside of the warehouse was as quiet as the outside had been, with the added bonus of being extra dark. Izuku took a few tentative steps forward. If anyone was here, they were doing a very good job of staying quiet. Just as he was about to take another few steps forward, he felt something hard hit his head from behind.

For a few seconds, everything around him was spinning. Then, everything went black.
