The Secrets Of Woden Woods

Woods Investigated

Chapter 1 by gscmar64 gscmar64

I couldn’t believe the bullshit I was hearing coming from my story editor, Mrs. Briana Willis’s mouth.

“”We have lost too many reporters over the last few years who said they were going to solve the secrets of Woden Woods, hell we never even found a trace of most of the females who have entered those woods, so what makes you think that you’ll be any different?”

“Briana, I spent five years in the Army’s Rangers, so I can both defend myself and handle anything thrown at me!”

“Alright I‘ll let you do your story but only if you promise me that you’ll contact the office three times a day via one of those global positioning phones the army has."

Then to please her, I accepted, so after a trip to an army surplus store to get one of the GPS phones. I went back home to pack a backpack with clothes, pad and paper, maps and toiletries. Little did I ever think that I would be walking into the adventure of my life!

The alarm went off at the insane hour of five AM, and as I cursed my decision to get up so early, I stumbled off to the bathroom for what just might be the last shower I would have until I got back. Then a quick breakfast of scrambled eggs, bacon, toast and a cup of coffee. Placing the dirty dishes into the sink I grabbed my stuff and began my in depth research into the secrets of Woden Woods.

I got into my jeep and drove to the beginnings of Woden Woods, already thinking about the rumors about lost tribes, strange noises, smugglers and the other nonsense. An hour later I was on a dirt road just off the main interstate that bordered Woden Woods with its barbed wire fencing and the signs “Private Property!”

Looking for a way I could get by the fence, I found a fallen piece of wood that I could use to rest against the wire and climb. I got over the wire only snagging my jeans once. In a flash I covered the distance between the fence and the beginning of the woods. I never once thought that I was spotted by anything but a bird or a squirrel. But when I was no more than five feet into the trees everything went black!
