The Reality Alteration Device

Adam and Jake were both 18 years of age and went to the same school. They had been childhood friends for the longest time and used to spend quite some time together.

Adam had always been the more popular one out of the two. He was smarter, more athletic and generally more popular. Adam was regularly hanging out with new friends he made. Adam has blonde hair, is in good shape and generally a very kind person.

His friend Jake has brown hair, spends most of his time on his pc and has become a bit pudgy over the past years. He had always been a little jealous of Adam and started to feel a lots of resentment towards him. Although he tried his best to remain friends, Adam seemed more interested in spending time with his new popular friends.

One day, Jake was heading home from school. He had his head hanging low, thinking about how he wished he was the popular one out of the two. As he was about to cross the road, a white delivery van cut him off! Jake's eyes grew large as he fell back onto the pavement.

"You damn idiot, watch where you drive!" He shouted.

As Jake got up on his feet, he noticed a brown box in the gutter.

"Huh... what's this?"

Jake took the box and inspected it for an address, but there was none. Only a big stamp reading 'Confidential'. Jake felt butterflies in his stomach as he got excited. He decided to open the box immediately. In it he found an odd looking device.

"A new smartphone!" He exclaimed in joy. But there was something weird about it. Its way too thick to be a new model smartphone. As he started the device, a strange looking UI popped up.

"What the hell... this doesn't look like android..." he said to himself.

Jake read the text at the top of the screen. 'Reality Alteration Device - release 6.9' (R.A.D. for short)

Below it there were some buttons and a text box. The buttons read a variety of things: 'body alteration', 'mind alteration', 'trait alteration' , 'memory alteration', 'life swap' , 'time freeze'... it really seemed like an endless list!

"This must be a joke..." Jake said to himself as he scanned the list.

Not thinking too much of it, Jake selected two people at random and promptly pressed the first button that caught his eye, head swap. He expected nothing to happen, and even felt silly for trying. But right after pressing the button his intuition was proven false. He saw an attractive female body wearing a cute pink dress and high heels, but with a very male head on top. Similarly, the male body now had a female head complete with red lipstick, long eyelashes and wavy brown hair running down its back. Neither of the two seemed to be aware of their new bodies.

Jake couldn't believe his eyes, this thing was real!
