The Perils of Amethyst

The Perils of Amethyst

Amateur Superheroine

Chapter 1 by The Night The Night

My name is Amy Alice. I’m 19 years old currently attending the college at Landmark City University. Ever since I was a child there were two things in the world I loved more than anything: Ballel and comic book superheroes. I love the elegance and grace of ballet and was lucky enough to be adopted by famous ballerina. I never knew my real parents so I consider myself lucky that I found both a loving mother and a capable teacher. Despite what people would have you think, ballel is a physically demanding form of dance so as I got older, the constant dance lessons developed my body and ways many found very attractive. It also helped that I had naturally beautiful red hair and pale skin. It seemed just about every man I walked by and even several woman (luckily for them I swing both ways) thought I was the most beautiful thing they had ever seen. They would ask me out but would find after a few dates that I was a huge comic book nerd, a fact that would turn a lot of people off due to my constant ramblings about the medium.

But as the saying goes, life goes on. Though I never had a meaningful romantic relationship, I quickly gained fame as a ballel prodigy and was able to gain a scholarship to attend Landmark University’s dance program. Though I was naturally excited, it has been a bit of an adjustment for me. For starters, it has been the first time I have every been away from my mother since she adopted me and with her on tour, I rarely get to see her. Not helping matters is the fact that I have recently taken up a rather unconventional extracurricular activity: Crime Fighting.

I know I know, it’s insane but I couldn’t help it. I grew up on the exploits of heroes like Batgirl and Supergirl and though I am aware they are fictional characters, I have always made an effort to live by example. In my formal years, this mostly took the form of simply being a good person but on occasion, I found myself defending others from bullies. Thankfully despite my slender frame and lack of super strength, I found I was able to hold my own in a fight by adapting my ballel training into a martial art. As I got older, I was giving the chance to test it against trained fighters such as karate, Boxers and MMA fighters, all of which I proved effective against. So when I got to Landmark City, a town invested with all sorts of crime including several super villains, I decided that by day I would be Amy Alice and by night, I would be a superheroine.

Before setting out into the streets however, I knew I needed a costume. What superheroine goes out fighting crime in their street clothes after all. Being on a budget, I couldn’t afford anything high tech so the base of the costume is a sleeveless dark purple catsuit that zips up in the front. On my hands I wore light pink opera gloves with dark purple fighting gloves. For footwear I opted to stick with my light pink ballet slippers. It might seem like an odd choice but I have spent so much time wearing them that I am more comfortable with them than a bra. To further accent the outfit, I added a flirty pink short skirt and a flowing scarf. The final touch was a dark purple domino mask and a different hair style. Usually I keep my hair up in a bun but when I go out to fight crime, I put it up in a ponytail. I must admit, I looked sexy. Who knows, maybe I’d attract the attention of another crime fighter or maybe a more gentle criminal who likes to play games. Oh I get wet at the thought of being captured and bound by a criminal…..just so long as they have no plans to kill me.

As far as my equipment goes, I keep a few things in a utility built. Just some essentials like zip ties to use as makeshift handcuffs, a few smoke bombs, a taser and pepper spray. Considering that I intend to rely mostly on hand to hand combat, I for went the addition of a major weapon. I don’t want to kill anyone after all. It’s only been a couple of weeks since I became a superheroine and for the most part I feel I have done very well. I’ve mostly been dealing with small time thugs. Some encounters have gone better than others but I have managed to overcome most of the challenges I have faced so far. I’ve started appearing in the news and given my bright purple outfight, the news as dubbed my Amethyst. A rather fitting name that I have adopted. Needless to say, I am proud of my work but little did I know that just as News outlets where starting to take notice of me, so where some of super criminals in the city. I was about to step into a world of danger and peril.
