The Party

NOTE: While the rest of the chapter is in 3rd person, this chapter will be in 1st person.

I woke up one morning to the sound of my alarm clock. After getting out of bed, I make my breakfast and sit on my couch before grabbing my laptop and switching it on.

I suppose I should introduce myself, my name is Nick, I'm 20 years old, I don't have a job, I'm currently single, I live alone in a small apartment in New York and I studied Art and Graphic Design in College, that was where I met her, Lauren, she was the perfect girl, she was amazingly beautiful, incredibly nice, unbelievably smart and she had a great sense of humor, I fell in love with her instantly, but there was one problem, she always had a boyfriend at some point.

First it was this douchebag surfer, Kyle, who dumped her for another girl, then after they broke up and she was single for a year then she started dating this asshole, Ian. I never met Ian myself, but given some stuff I heard from others, he was an utter dirtbag, he was a bully to Lauren's friends, disrespectful to her family, always thinking he's better than everyone else, there were even some rumors that he was cheating on Lauren, but it was never proven, and unfortunately, to this day, Ian and Lauren are still together.

During the year Lauren was single, me and her actually kept in touch for a while, we messaged eachother online about how we had been. Last year I decided to make my move and asked her to the movies, but then I realised I messed up because she never messaged me back, shortly afterwards, she started dating Ian.

I never thought I'd hear from her again until I went to message my friends online and I saw that I had received a message from Lauren.
