The Namish

Weren't the Victorians a peculiar people? It's so funny to look back now and think of a society where a woman displaying her ankles was considered indecent exposure, where underwear covered more of the female body than most outerwear does nowadays, where bathing suits covered a woman from her feet to her neck.

In the year 2115, the people of earth look back at our standards of modesty with similar hilarity.

The words "Indecent exposure" have been lost to the annals of time. There are no clothing laws, and none are needed, now that high-tech security systems maintain the safety and well being of all citizens at all times. Women can walk freely, unburdened by clothing, safe in the knowledge that they can never be attacked. A century of ever-more provocative music videos, and the celebrity culture that accompanies them, means that nudity is 'trendy' and 'modern', and nobody with any sort of fashion sense would be caught dead wearing clothes.

All except The Namish. Officially called the New Age Amish, nicknamed The Nineties Amish, and generally called The Namish, they are a society of people who live away from modern culture, and harken back to the times before the Internet, and a plethora of pornographic filth, washed over the world. They wear the same clothes as the 1990's, watch the same TV shows, listen to the same music and eat the same food. Their towns are separated from the rest of the world by shielded domes, their independence recognised by the government and respected by all.
