The Coffee, the mistake and the curse

The Coffee, the mistake and the curse

Introduction

Chapter 1 by CMW CMW

Ah, morning coffee. The one thing from this world I would call perfect, which I find impressive for… monkies? Is that hate speech, I don’t mean it in any sense of negativity though. Oh, I am probably over thinking things, but coffee technology has evolved so much in the past centuries, and I am quite happy for it. The true dark ages for me where before you could make good coffee in minutes.

If I am ever permitted to go home, I bet I would be the toast of the town for showing them this remarkable brew. Assuming they would be willing to try something brown in color from the monkey world. There loss if not I suppose.

It was in that moment, when I could feel it. Feel ’s wings in the air. In fairness I could always feel that, but something was unique about this one. Old age, sickness, or injury, they are expected, and more or less accepted. But this one, this grim was seeking someone young, healthy, and uninjured. My curiosity was peeked.

I found her. A high school student, 19 years old, and crying. She didn’t notice me, had I not been able to read such things. I might of think I scared her off the edge. No, the grim and me both sensed her resolve. She jumped.

I followed her and slowed time down for all but her ability to communicate with me. The look of shock would normally be amusing, but I don’t find this situation amusing.

“What the, what is happening?” She screamed.

I ignored the typical question for now. “I am, a powerful person. I slowed time down so we could communicate.”

She paused for a second, processing it. Normally they are so quick to just say what again, but she was unique in that way.

“You have no right! Leave me be!”

“An odd reaction. Most assume I am God. But you’re right to a degree. It’s one reason time has just been slowed. Ultimately I can’t stop you,” I lied. I could easily stop her, but… for something serious like this. That felt wrong. “But, someone who can save you, and slow time down is asking you to let him help. Is this a reason to turn him down?”

Even in this slowed time, she saw she didn’t have much of it to decide. And that was true, and time are one of the few mistakes I can’t fix.

“Okay!” She said, almost disappointed in her willing to give up. But it was something I was proud of. If only I had been willing to give up before my exile. Some mistakes, you never get to fix.

In a flash we were back in the coffee shop and she jumped at realizing she was again safe. I handed her a cup. “They have great coffee here. Best in the world at the moment, trust me. I know.”

“I… I don’t drink coffee, but thank you I guess,” she mumbled.

“Your loss, so. Lets cut to the chase, I have a lot of power, and I don’t seeing people like that. So, life or someone else has given you a hard time I assume. I can even the score for you.”
