Chapter 2

So what do you want?
I could tell she was still shaken a bit, unsure how real this all was. “I want, to teach the mean cheerleaders a lesson,” she finally chirped.
“Okay,” I said before taking another sip of my glorious coffee.
“Okay? That’s it?” she said with a raised brow.
“What were you expecting?” I honestly wondered, I suppose I could just check, but I dunno, this woman, she felt… special. I wanted to learn things from her the natural way.
“Figured you would want to know why or see if they really deserve it,” she mumbled looking down. Even without my abilities, I could tell she wondered if she had looked a gift horse in the teeth.
“To be honest. I don’t care. I am biased, given our meeting. But, I do have a sense of the theatrics for this, so context would help.”
The look in her eyes was interesting, the way they twitched and how her lashes flickered. I wonder if she was considering the ethics of my words, or maybe she was just astounded I could admit I was biased. Been such a long time since I didn’t just peer into there minds, I must admit, it was a lot more fun to actually have to listen and watch there facial expressions.
Over the next few hours, she spilled her heart to me. The cheerleaders had been brutal. Or at least the head cheerleader had been. It felt like she was indeed the queen and her subjects followed suit, with things that may honestly just be pranks, to some disturbing things. It was going to be tricky to administer a fair punishment to a group who has honestly ranged from legitimate good spirited hazing to criminally abusive behavior, but that was fine. I liked a challenge.
I stood up stretching, and I suppose she could the meeting was about over because she jumped from her seat. “Wait!”
“Yes?”
“This is one more thing,” she said taking a defensive posture.
My interest was peeked. Something so vile that she had found it difficult to say to even me?
Tears welled up in her eyes. “My boyfriend… I mean her boyfriend, she had...” she sat down and just cried for solid minutes before continuing. “She put him up to faking a break up, and got him to act like he liked me, just so he could ditch me on prom.”
Having finally spat it out, she returned to crying her eyes out. I wasn’t sure what to do. I tapped her shoulder gently.
“Just be at school on time tomorrow, trust me,” I said before vanishing.
I wonder how she reacted to that. Like I said, I was one for the theatrics. Plus, I had work to do. The squad I bet I could get a read on tomorrow in the moment, but the boyfriend and the queen bee. They required some personal attention.
Why had they been so vile?
