Switching roles around

Josh woke up from his slumber, feeling fresh and relaxed - he had a friday off from school AND work, so he could finally get a good night’s rest and just spend the rest of the day chilling. As he was lazily opening his eyes and getting up, he saw something weird; right in the middle of his room was a package. A small white box with a pink ribbon lied there on the exact center of his bedroom. Very weird… but interesting.

Josh approached the box and opened without a second’s thought. Inside he found a wristwatch. It looked like a cheap knock-off that you would find in in some tourist trap place, and it smelled of cheap plastic like those old McDonald’s toys. What caught Josh interest was another item in the box - a page with a note, written in a very neat handwritten cursive. It read:

“Hello Joshua Zalewski!

You have been chosen to be bestowed an item for safekeeping - it may not look like much, but it’s just an illusion, to disguise it’s true form from those who would want it for themselves.

This is the TIMEPIECE OF ATULOS! It allows its user to SWITCH ROLES with whoever they please, with ten minute intervals. Here are the instructions, for if you wish to use this item:

With the item on your hand, point it in the direction of the person whom you wish to switch with and press the silver button on the side of the item - this will swap your roles with the selected person, and initiate a one hour cooldown, after which you may use the item again. It is important that you need a clear line of sight to activate the artifact. However, if you get stuck without a body to change to, you can return to your original role, you can press the button and hold it for ten seconds; after that all the switches caused by the artifact will be undone.

Council of Weird Magic

Josh was really confused by the letter, for many reasons. Magic was real? And why would he be chosen to be held accountable for a magic item? This was absurd… but for some reason he knew in his heart that all that it was said was true. What he did not know was what the item actually did - switching “roles''? What the hell did that mean? To him it read like some freaky friday type shit. But would they not write body swap, or souls swap, or whatever? Man, too bad this supposed council did not leave their contact info. Oh well, what are you gonna do?

Josh strapped the item onto his hand, and felt it vibrate softly on his skin. Screw his plans of simply chilling at home! He has to test this power, and have some fun while doing it. But where to start?
