Superhero Smash

One boring Sunday you were going about your business as usually, relaxing at home with a cold beer trying to keep cool when the ground shook beneath you, startling you. You thought it was an earthquake but after the 3rd or 4th successive rumble you became concerned and turned on the news, where you were greeted with footage of the Justice League in battle with Darkseid.

You started to panic but calmed yourself down, you knew the Justice League would win and all would be okay, which is when you notice the bottom of the screen has a list of heroes names, scrolling across it. You see names like Wonder Woman, The Flash, Supergirl, Hawkman, Aquaman and many more big and small before you notice the word that brought all hope crashing down.... "Deceased". Somehow Darkseid had killed the majority of earth's heroes before most of the world even knew what was happening and the few that remained didn't look like they'd last much longer.

You watched as the battle unfolded and more heroes fell, from Green Lantern to Stargirl, before only one hero remained standing in Darkseids path....Superman. They both fought for what felt like hours until superman, bloodied and bruised flew at Darkseid and unleash his biggest supernova blast which quickly enveloped the city, expanding rapidly.

Your TV screen then cut to black as you looked outside the window above it.... the battle had been happening in Midway city... Only 20 miles from you, which is when you notice the bubble of light expanding in your direction.

Deciding to die with dignity you stand up and await your fate but just before the wave of energy hit you, there was a flash of blue and you were pulled into what appeared to be a tear in the fabric of space in front of you.

You black out as you cross the surface of the tear, waking up intermittently to notice you were falling and then passing out again before..... THUMP! you hit a solid surface and wake up. As you sit up you notice you're sitting in a field of grass and are surrounded by run down buildings built in a style you don't recognise. You think to yourself "this is either a shitty Heaven or a Hell thats doing a shitty job" before you stand up and brush yourself off.

You walk around for a bit, wondering if you were dead and that if you really weren't dead, how the hell you survived. You do this for several hours until you reach what appeared to be the largest building in the city with a sign that reads "Vanishing Point, founded by the Linear Men".

You think for a few minutes, wondering where you'd heard those words before, when it suddenly hits you, the flash had talked about accidentally travelling here before and how he'd met the linear men. Clearly the number of people at the vanishing point had increased from the few Flash had mentioned to require all these buildings. Deciding it was your best shot at finding something you enter the building, looking for signs that would lead you somewhere important, hopefully with a way home.

You find a sign talking about a travel room" so follow it and take the stairs to the top floor. As you open the door at the top, you enter a large room filled with chairs as well as what appeared to be some sort of stargate looking knock off with a sign above it reading "departure". Beside the machine was a computer that still appeared to be powered but had a sign flashing on it reading "Warning, Warning, Energy low, One trip remaining". You swipe the warning away and start to read through the computers data, discovering this is a one way time travel device, designed to send you any where in the time and space.

You start to imput the time and place you left before remembering you'd probably just die immediately and would have wasted your second chance. You sit there for a short while before a revelation comes to you.... You can go anywhere, any when and meet the person you've always dreamed of. You imput a time and a date having made your decision and the machine activates, before you step through it.
