Space Pirates

Officially they do not exist. Not matter what else divides them, governments all over the world agree that the existence of a race of Amazon Pirates with technology far exceeding our own must be kept secret.

Knowing we are being watched by beautiful women (men are incapable of surviving interstellar travel) who can swoop down from the sky, or mingle with us to observe at close range to pick their targets could do nothing to prevent them from doing as they please, and would only cause panic.

In space there are planets made of pure gold, places where jewels precious on earth lie around for anyone who can travel between the stars can pick them up. Our most advanced technology is like the primitve artefacts of ancient times found in museums to them, so what can they want from Earth.
