A journey into submission, or a attempt to avoid it.

Chapter 1 by senarsil senarsil

You are in quite a rough spot at the moment aren’t you? Your rent is due tomorrow and you have already blown all of your cash. What a shame. Looks like you will have to find a way to scrounge it up before your landlord comes knocking again. The last time you were late on your rent he threatened to throw you out on the street, due process be damned.

You take a look around your shitty studio apartment. There's not much left that you would be able to sell. Maybe the fridge? No, you’d rather sell yourself than give up the only semi-nice piece of furniture you have left. Still, the fridge might be the only reasonable option left.

Going over the possible choices in your head, none seem overly appealing to you. You have a ‘friend’ that might be able to spot you, but given his personality, he is definitely going to want something in return. You could call your landlord and explain your financial difficulties, maybe bring up how it’s an absolute scam for him to be charging so much for this goddamn hole-in-the-wall. It’s doubtful that would go well. Lastly, you could just give in and sell your fridge. The second-hand-shop across the street is always keen on getting new stuff.

So, what are you going to do?
