Running into his former bully
Reconciling with the past
Michael Lake is blond, thin, bookish, and his 20th birthday was just a few days ago. He also stands at a measly 5'1" in height. Talk about your short kings, yeesh.
Mike tries to keep a good attitude about his height and is, for the most part, successful at it, especially after graduating high school. In college you meet all kinds of people, and the whole clique mentality really loses it's steam, so his days of getting ridiculed and bullied for his height were over for the most part and he could focus on studying hard and hanging out with cool people.
It was when he was back home on summer break, away from all his new friends, that Michael started to get lonely. Most of the friends he made in college were out of state or even international so seeing them proved tough and he craved some social interaction.
That's probably why when he saw the invitation to Janice Woods' "Class of xx Reunion Pool Party" in the mail, he actually accepted instead of throwing it in the trash immediately.
He arrived in his black swim trunks, opting to just travel light should the party prove a bust he wanted to bail easily. There, about 50 of his peers from back in high school stood, swam, drank and chatted. A good number of familiar faces eyed him with knowing smirks that made him flush with embarrassment. They knew about it.... about The Incident.
There were a few people, one or two, honestly, that chose to put the days of senior year behind them and Michael actually managed to have something resembling a good time chatting with them about their experiences in college.
As he sipped some vodka-spiked punch from a red plastic cup and looked around the party for someone he knew to talk to, that's when he saw her.
Hannah Khan. The girl who ruined his senior year.
The most noticeable thing about Hannah was her intimidating height, she stood at an astounding 6'5". A genetic million-to-one. The second most noticeable thing was that she was drop-dead gorgeous with a body to match. Thirdly, she was rich, well her family was at least. The Khan's were famously wealthy from a number of successful ventures. Usually the tall girl gets picked on or avoided in the cruel pecking order of school, but Hannah's looks and wealth nullified that to most and she stood (tall) in the top echelon of high school popularity. Everybody always wanted to talk to her and throw themselves at her feet.
Michael on the other hand knew that she was a sadistic, evil bitch. She was in multiple classes with him all throughout high school and she'd make little digs at his height all throughout, made all the more humiliating given their extreme contrast in height. She looked like Godzilla staring down a meerkat.
Her torture met it's stark peak with... The Incident.
Michael didn't like to think about The Incident. The single event the ruined the rest of what should have been the best year of his life.
He watched Hannah as she talked with a group of other rich girls, dressed in a gorgeous white bikini with golden buckles and rings holding it together. Michael huffed and hoped she'd keep to her damn self for the remainder of party, she seemed quite engaged in whatever she was talking about with the gaggle of rich girls and perhaps she wouldn't even notice him.
Michael turned his gaze with a sigh and began talking with Bobby Miller, a guy he was cool with in calculus back in junior year. Eventually though, Bobby cut his talking short and just stared at Michael. No, not at Michael, but behind Michael. He turned around and the entirety of his vision was filled with a pair of enormous, light-brown breasts, cupped snugly in a revealing white bikini top.
It was Hannah, and this wasn't a new phenomenon. Back in high school she'd often stand behind him and wait for him to turn around, their difference in height made it so that he was perfectly eye-level with her well-developed chest and she'd loudly call him a "little perv".
This time however, the insult never came, and when Michael took a step back and looked up at Hannah's face, she didn't have that trademark evil smirk on her face, but instead just looked... mad? uncomfortable? constipated? Whatever, it was Hannah up to her old bullshit, Michael knew it.
"Hello, Michael." she said coldly.
