Rent Reduction

“Mom, I can’t believe you haven’t even tried to see if Mr. Cartier would consider a rent reduction!”

“Robin, it’s not like we need to live here for free, it’s just that I’m a little behind in expenses, what with the tariffs and inflation they are causing right now! Besides I’m sure that he’s feeling the pinch just like we are!’

“I understand that mom but you don’t work in a high rise office building and drive a Lamborghini like he does, so he can’t be hurting too much!”

“Robin, now don’t you go and make things worse than they are. After all if it wasn’t for Mr. Carrier renting me this house, we both would be living in our car or worse on the streets somewhere!”

Robin went quiet but she formed in her mind the idea that if her mom wasn’t going to do anything then she would, behind her mother’s back!

The person Robin was going to speak to just scanned the figures for a third time, “There’s no doubt that things are going to be tight for the next little while. What a time for Janice to suddenly develop a conscience about sleeping with the boss. Fuck I could handle a tight budget but the lack of pussy would really hurt!”

Cartier just closed the laptop down when a timid knock came to the front door. A quick check of the front door camera channel on the TV showed a young female, vaguely familiar to him standing there politely waiting for him to answer.

She didn’t seem to have anything beside or behind her that she was trying to peddle. Didn’t look like a Jehovah Witness or any kind of religious person. The deciding factor in whether to answer the door was the fact that she appeared not to have any kind of weapon in her hands!
Mr. Cartier got up, went to the door and opened it while keeping the chain in place. “Yes! Can I help you?”

“Mr. Cartier, I’m Robin Carvers, my mom and me live down the street, I wonder if I could come in and talk to you?”
