Reign of the Axe

This is my first story using conditional variables, so please expect a few rough edges here and there as I figure out systems. My goal is to develop several branching paths concurrently, so hopefully there won’t be a bunch of linear 1-option chapters. The continent of Ruhn in the world of Thenard is a land on a knife's edge. Divided between seven ancient kingdoms set down by the gods themselves, Ruhn is a shadow of its legendary foundations. A diverse land ruled by diverse people, Ruhn's Seven Kingdoms contain nations of men, elves, dwarves, orcs, and gnomes, each of which live to see one or more of their neighbors fall. Within these nations lie seeds of discontent, as well, upstart nobles who vie for greater influence within their own kingdoms and over their kings. And outside the civilized lands, rumors of deeper, more insidious evils watch and wait for their time to strike...

Thenard is a world rife with stories of struggle and conquest, of wills bending the world to their whim and of swords enforcing the might of their owners. Stories of great men and women, ready and willing to do great and terrible things in the name of glory and power.
