Pokémon Ultra-Violet
The story of an orphan discovering her destiny.
Chapter 1
by FinalFlash88
It had been a week since Violet's 18th birthday, the carers at the orphanage along with the other children had thrown her a fantastic party. Though in truth it felt a little bittersweet as not only did it signify her becoming an adult but it also meant her graduation from the place she'd called home for so many years of her life. The girl was excited to be able to make something of her life but the harsh reality was that she was average at best in anything she did. The orphanage had, of course, offered a good education for the children there and she was no different but no matter how hard she tried she always just seemed to fall short or teeter on the edge of average, this too applied to skills with pokemon.
Violet herself was the epitome of bog-standard, her looks average at best, except for having the good fortune of clear skin, much to the jealousy of the other girls her age. She stood at an average 5'5" or 165cm and had a pale complexion. Her hair was jet black and fell down to her shoulder blades where the tips had been dyed purple. Her eyes were a dark, deep violet color, which is how she earned her name, with heavy eyelids which often made her default expression look sleepy. Her body was neither slim nor fat but a happy medium where there was just enough to grab hold of if you were so inclined, her bust and butt following a similar trend of being noticeable but nothing special.
There were only three ways out of the orphanage, graduation once you hit 18 years old, a scholarship at a private school for those with abundant talent, and finally those who show exceptional skills at handling pokemon, whether that be battling, breeding, or otherwise. The only upside of graduating this way was that Violet had a choice of places she could pick from to live and would be given a home as well as some money to get herself started;
Firstly there was the small town of Wedgehurst, a quiet little place in the southern reaches of the region. Plenty of open fields and farmlands, the perfect place for someone who wants a relaxing, relatively stress-free life.
Secondly was Spikemuth, a town renowned for its tightly packed buildings and colorful nightlife. A rougher area to live in and certainly not for the faint of heart. This is also the location of the Mortar Street Orphanage, the place Violet grew up.
Lastly, the city of Motostoke, an industrial mecca and one of the biggest cities in the region. There is no shortage of things to do here, whether you want a carefree life of shopping or to put your nose to the grindstone in one of the many factories, there are certainly worse ways to make a living that's for sure. It is also home to one of the large pokemon battle stadiums that litter Galar and attendance is not only cheap but thrilling each and every visit.
Where does Violet begin the newest chapter of her life?

A down on her luck, teenage girl living in the Galar region. Will she take control of her destiny and become a pokemon master or be just another trainer stuck in mediocrity.
