Pandemic

P4 Laboratories Inc. is a well known and established network of research facilities from all over the world. Since founding this global community, P4 Labs has gained a high reputation and replaced the R&D departments of most Governments. Their entire mission and effort officially being the eradication of disease in the world. And even though P4 Labs is a comparably young company, the united global efforts combined with public and private funding helped prove that their mission could be achieved as they successfully banished small diseases from the face of the earth. The flu, small pocks, measles - diseases like that no longer existed thanks to P4 Labs. As of late there have been major developments in finding cures against more severe diseases like cancer or AIDS as well, even genetic illnesses could be battled more effectively and more cost efficient. At least as far as the public was concerned.

However, the main activity and the major revenue stream for P4 Labs came from secret military contracts or from large donations of wealthy individuals that asked to have bio-engineered weapons at their disposal in case they would need leverage over certain regions or Governments, making P4 Labs literally the largest developer and distributor of bio weapons. Those viruses were usually developed with an anti-virus and unless otherwise ordered were stored in the closest secure locations guarded by P4 Labs until the delivery became a necessity to whichever client ordered the development of the specific virus. An offer which was both lucrative for P4 Labs and convenient for the client.

Since P4 Labs secured success for each order received, the development was only one part. Testing their developments was most crucial and guidelines were strict. Working their way up from simulations, to testing on rodents, dogs, primates and at the final stage isolated human tests and group tests. Employees were sworn to secrecy even between each other and research projects were only to be discussed within the research team. Employees who broke this arrangement or were believed to have broken it, often ended up part of the human studies themselves and if necessary were taken care off afterwards.

However, one day the inevitable happens as an employee of P4 Labs tries to steal a certain virus to blow the whistle on P4 Labs and to prove that they are secretly not the good company the public believes it to be.
