My new family

It was a normal Saturday evening when I got a text from my adoption center saying that I had been adopted. I thought that I was out of that system years ago. I tried contacting them, but they said my guardians were going to meet me in 2 days. I can take care of myself, I thought, so I decided to clear this up by going to the center and telling them about this big misunderstanding. I prepped myself by getting myself ready, doing my hair really professionally, and getting my suit on to wear. I had no time to iron them, so I just slipped it on and drove my way to the center. As I parked, I reminisced about all the years I spent inside that dump and all the bullying I felt while there.

I went inside and saw a familiar face at the counter it was my nanny from so many years ago damn she was so much taller than me and everything "hey Mrs Matilda how's it been haha" "I've been good it seems you've grown your trying out a new image I see" she said while looking at my cleavage "haha I don't usually dress like this I'll try to find something better than this next time" this suit cost me 400 dollars shit did they scam me "it seems your still the same as in the past I've misjudged you well your new family will set you straight" did she notice the uncertainty in my eyes I need to push back I'm the adult now "that's what I wanted to talk about I'm not joining this new weird family why would they want an 18 year old as their daughter anyway" I say trying to stay firm

"that's not for you to decide the law states that if someone is found unfit to take care of themselves they'll stay in the system you haven't proved otherwise just look at how you show your face to me now I'd be surprised if in 2 years you weren't working at a strip club" I couldn't say no to her, she reminded me of the old timid me and even though I was flushed and embarrassed I didn't have the facts or the courage to talk back to her "f-fine what's going to happen then" I asked she smirked "we'll email you your family living situation tomorrow morning, and you'll move in with them the day after this will be entirely contractual don't worry" she said hiding her laugh "ok I'll be on my way then" I said timidly and as I went outside the building I could hear a muffled "stupid whore" I left into my car and left

The next morning I got a text 'this is your new family'
