“Come on . . . Come on . . . Wake up. . . KP, can you give him another shot of Kyportizol-10”

I felt a pinch to my skin as the needle sunk into my neck, allowing liquid to flow into my bloodstream. Even if I had wanted to stop it, I wouldn’t have been able to. My muscles were spasming uncontrollably, every twitch flooding my mind with intense nausea. Though my eyes were open, my vision was far too blurred to make out anything other than hazy shapes moving in and out of the bright light above me.

Delirium was threatening to overcome me once more, my grasp on sanity beginning to slip away through my fingers. Then everything changed. My body calmed, the horrific convulsions coming to a rapid halt. My vision began to swim back into focus, along with my ability to make out some of the noises around me.

“There, that should keep him down for half an hour or so. . . “ the voice was feminine. Calm and collected, the tones soothed my racing mind. I didn’t know who she was, nor where we were, but I couldn’t move, so I was at her mercy.

“What are his vitals?” The voice spoke again, and this time another voice responded. “ 180 over 76, Master, they have increased dramatically”. This voice clearly wasn’t organic. The words seemed to whir even as being spoken, the voice even and monotonous, and the vocabulary was clearly that of a droid.

“Good, with any luck, he’ll be awake within the next couple of hours.” She paused for a moment “ Set a course for Alphixi minor” there was another pause, followed by a set of heavy metallic footsteps, presumably the droid, fading away along a corridor.

Without access to my arms and legs, my options were limited. If these people turned out to be dangerous, there would be no escape. Then again, if they planned to kill me, they had already had plenty of opportunity. They seemed genuine in there effort to help me, though what their motives were remained unknown. Either way, I needed information. I needed to find out where I was.

The nausea was beginning to fade, my whole body becoming numb. Whatever she had given me, it was working. Apart from the fact that my arms, legs and face seemed to be made of steel, I felt almost ordinary.

But the paralysis was inescapable. Even my eyelids felt too heavy to move, though my retinas had become desperately dry. Similarly, my throat felt like sandpaper, dehydrated didn’t even begin to cover it.

I every ounce of effort that I could into letting my jaw fall open. I strained hard, and slowly, I began to make some progress, my jaw rotating on it’s hinge until my mouth fell ajar.

“Aaarrr”

That’s all I could manage. I knew it made little sense, if any, but at the moment more than that was a pipe dream
