Within the inner sanctum of the temple, lay dormant an egg, made not by natural breeding but to contain the soul of a powerful mature being so fearsome he was known as the King of Demons. Many had attempted to reach the sanctum and use its power for themselves, all had failed. Until now.

"Silence, fool. We are close to the inner sanctum."

The mercenary gave an annoyed look before continuing his path while the dark elf Selanara pretended not to notice.

Originally, she had eight humans travelling with her, not one. She almost laughed when she saw them unsheathe their swords and walk into the temple like they were prepared to face the horrors inside. In truth, they were not here to fight for her, they were here to die for her. She never trusted mercenaries. And sure, she had the spells to protect her skin, but not her dress. She didn't want her dress ruined by some draugr's rusty sword. It was a good dress and she liked it. The traps had already claimed seven of them and the surviving one didn't seem to care that much for his lost friends. She had promised 500 gold coins to the whole group, for them to share as they please, even though she didn't have that sum of human money. Hopefully, the last of the mercenaries would probably die by himself soon. If he was to survive, she would gladly finish him herself.

When they got to the altar, they saw an egg big enough to fit a person inside. The sorceress was quick to read the runes at the base of the egg and she couldn't help but smile. Soon she would have a great Demon King under her command. The mercenary circled the egg with caution, torch in one hand, sword in the other. He got close to the altar and stepped where he shouldn't. Arrows suddenly flew across the room, directly to his chest.

The Sorceress approached the now safe egg and looked upon her long awaited prize. She couldn't control herself anymore and just started laughing maniacally. This was her moment, the beginning of her reign of terror. The egg was hers. After all those years of searching, the Demon King was hers. She just had to extend her hand and touch it.

The sorceress stood before the egg, trying to contain her anxiety and emotions. This was the important part and also the most dangerous. The sorceress reached out and touched the egg. It felt cold. She was about to make the first incantation when a large crack appeared on the egg. The sorceress gasped in shock.

Was the egg already breaking? She stared at the egg in horror. Then, the crack suddenly spread across the whole egg. The sorceress' heart skipped a beat. The egg... was... cracked. She couldn't believe it. It was only a matter of time before the Demon King freed himself. If that happened before she performed the spell, she wouldn't be able to control him at all.

She tried to perform the incarnation when the egg exploded. A burst of flames and a wave of intense heat blasted out of the egg. The explosion send her flying away and made her fall on the floor of the inner sanctum. When she raised her head again she saw it: a dark and winged creature, emerging from the purplish fog with a scream of pain.

It was the Demon King, the great beast she had so longed for.

She raised herself from the floor and tried to perform the incarnation a third time, hoping it would still be enough for her to control the demon.

She looked up and saw?
