Gio's Tale

Special Agent Giovanna is charged with the heavy burden of protecting the President of the United States. It's a tough job, and not one that afford her many luxuries. Constantly on the hunt for threats she strikes out at countless foes who use any number of magical methods. Backed up only by her intuition and her wolf spirit Rei, she takes great pride in the efficiency of how she works. So much so that she finds herself on case after case, starving herself of any real downtime in the process. While certainly a positive for the protection of the president, this has turned Giovanna into something of a workaholic.

Not to say the Giovanna is a stick in the mud or hates enjoying herself mind you, her job takes her all over the world. She takes in the sights, meets new people, and finds joy in her work, but it is always that. Work. Her job and the authority it lends her play a vital role in her day to day life. She has Rei, a spirit bound to her very soul, but has no time aside from that to make friends, to pursue personal goals, or even to date. Her life is one she spends on the road and mostly alone.

Though this method by which she lives life does have it's upsides. She's an incredibly gifted fighter and protector. She has managed to thwart hundreds of plots against the United States over the course of her years of employment. From hunting down rogue gears, to skirmishes with the Assassin's Guild themselves. She's put in the time and studied different forms of magic, each with it's own weaknesses. However, one form of magic would prove too rare and powerful for her to fully comprehend. A magical technique wielded by only two individuals. The magical practice of control over time and alternate realities.

One of the pair with such power is the witch known as I-No. A chaotic of nature, she is able to go wherever and whenever she wishes on so much as a whim. Her guiding principles are somewhat mysterious, but she provides a substantial threat to the rest of the world, and so Giovanna was given the task of hunting her down. Throughout their clashes back and forth, the two begin to learn more about one another in the way that adversaries often do. I-No is a being of pure impulse and instinct. She acts on her gut feels, and is quick to flirt or otherwise indulge in the pleasures of life. The flip side of this coin, I-No would discover the rigid professionalism of Giovanna and find it appalling. The two squaring off against one another time and time again, each time I-No becoming more frustrated with Giovanna's obsession with the mission and her inability to enjoy life, she takes it upon herself to teach the special agent a mission. During one such battle between them, I-No uses her time magic, slowing down the pace of battle long enough to Giovanna into a mystical doorway bathed in a shimmering light. On the other side, Giovanna would find herself alone in a new world, and the witch as her only guide.
