Fool's Paradigm
Start of the Journey
Chapter 1

It was hot, that fact kept bringing me out of my reveries. With ****, I returned to the world around me. My gaze drifting over my surroundings, surroundings that had sadly become well known to me in the past fortnight. The room was brightly lit, open shutters allowing the bright sun of a summer day to steam into the room its rays causing the heavy dust in the air to sparkle as if dancing for the sun. The light highlighted the austere nature of the rooms decoration, the only piece of note being a rather gaudy mantle above the fireplace of the room with its numerous stuffed game displaying the low skill of some local taxidermist. The wooden floor creaked incessantly with the pacing of the rotund barkeep Mr. Tottle, how it was that he’d gotten so large when he never seemed to cease being in motion had escaped me.
Though, he was not the only person I’d been **** to become acquainted with while awaiting the news from my master. At the bar, as per custom, was a slovenly lush who never seemed to leave. How it was they always possessed the finances to keep their glass full was another mystery of this crude establishment. From the short conversation, if one could call it that, I’ve had the displeasure of engaging in with the woman I’d learned her name was Morgan. That had been difficult enough to make out from the onrush of wanton drivel that never ceased to spew forth from her maw. On one of the rare occasions, I’d asked Mr. Tottle about her, he’d merely laughed and said you get used to it.
Though as I gazed upon her, I could not deny the fact the woman was attractive in her own way. Even the filth-ridden guise of a lush was not enough to hide the lovely pear-shape that she had been endowed with. For a moment I recalled my previous daydream. The look of Morgan’s amber eyes looking up at me from her position at my feet. A burning look of yearning and desire. It was with that thought that, for the second time that day, my fantasy was interrupted. The difference was that this time when I opened my eyes my view was that of amber orbs looking back, my breath hitched in that instant as I tried to focus.
“What’ssa matta Drox? Catch’ya’dreamin’ bout me?”
Her words would have been a purr where it not for the slurring that accompanied them. Involuntarily my face reddened as those fiery eyes locked onto me, her plump lips pinched in anticipation.
