Fantasy Adventure
Perrin Palladium
Chapter 1
by SuperCoolPenName
Perrin lives in the forest on the outskirts of Weldstone, a prosperous farming town that feeds the city of Elris. Far from the binds that city life can tie onto a person, Perrin spend his days hunting and working on calligraphy. His hobbies though worthy of isolation, are not the reasons for it. A past as blood spattered as his tends to drive one to the warm embrace of an introverted life.
Perrin's modest hut does more than shelter him, for every time he spends a dry night sleeping to the sounds of thunder he is filled with a builders pride. His hands bled from a deep cut the day he finished construction on the cabin he calls home. More focused on the celebration, knowing the cabin would be finished, Perrin cut through his palm while sawing a piece of would. He cursed his arrogance that day, but is now filled with pride when he sees the one blood stained piece of would in his bedroom. A simple life full of simple worries, far away from the looming cloud of worry that his past brings. When the traps are full and there is no need to hunt Perrin tends to his garden. Vegetables, herbs, and even potion ingredients fill a small plot of land near his forest cabin. Perrin's green thumb is more necessity than enjoyment; long gone are the days of medical attention. With the farms being an all day excursion and a doctor even longer, Perrin has cultivated the best blend of plants for his survival here in the Arima Forest.
He lives a life not having to worry about coin, but that doesn't mean that he never wants. From time to time he comes across a bounty on the job board in Weldstone, and if the job catches his liking he more than likely collects the reward. The bounties are usually rural delusions, but pay well for his means. The sheer amount of times he has had to scare away a woodland creature because some house wife thought there was a demon in the crawl space would have any other adventure sick to his stomach. Perrin does these tasks not because he can't finish top level bounty, but because the settled life gives him joy. Not having to fear for his life, or the lives of others beats the prestige of victory.
While on a supply run into Weldstone a bounty catches Perrin's eye.
"Help Needed. John Abert, missing. Last seen on his farm. 5gp Reward for information. 50gp Reward for the safe return of John. Talk to Joan Abert for detail."
The bounty was a much need break from the mundane and was near unrecognizable for a small farming community like Weldstone. The job is enticing, but the simple life of a hermit is just snug as a glove. The supply run days are a time for him to relax and see if there are any new ales or meads at Hearth Home Inn, but something about that bounty pulls him towards his adventurous past.
Does Perrin take the job, or make his way to Hearth Home Inn?
