Fallout 4 Moon’s Misadventures

A Fallout Parody

Chapter 1 by Diggitydog6 Diggitydog6

Moon had not wanted this. She did not want to wake up in a war torn America. She did not want to lose her Husband nor did she want to lose her son. All she wanted was to be a mother, raise her newborn Shaun, and love her husband Nate. Honestly it was almost like a dream, when she first saw Nate. Moon had been volunteering at the local hospital, nursing the recently wounded soldiers that returned from the front lines of Alaska. She had never expected to meet her love nor did her; but love nonetheless found itself that day.

Nate had been stationed at the Alaska front line during the year 2064; the Chinese had been posturing, along with the Niagara Sabotage where Chinese spies were presumably caught in the act of sabotaging. Alaska was a high priority target, so a military build up was the result. Nate survived the numerous battles in Alaska and returned to his hometown against his will; he wanted to fight and continue to defend. The homefront was tired of the war so some of the war heroes and veterans were brought back to the homeland; to restore (if falsely) a sense of finality, or confidence that the war will come to an end. Nate had spent his time helping his fellow brothers in arms.

Fate had played its hands, pairing the two together, yet they fell in love. Nathan Blackburn Hawthorn (Nate B. Hawthorn) would joined with Nora Eliana Carpenter (Moon E. Hawthorn), together till do they part. When they were not volunteering, they spent their day walking in the park and sharing a cheap hotdog for an old mom n’ pops stand, Billy Bob’s Dogs. Life had been swift for the two, Nora was with child and Nate had found a new job. His job was good enough to maintain their comfy lifestyle (if a tad bit more simple than their neighbors) without Moon having to take a job. Moon was fine with being a stay at home mother, she rather enjoyed the prospects of such a simple life of doing menial chores and raising their child. Nate, being informed of the unrest within America and to some degree world events; had convinced her to take some defense lessons, some survival skills, and some miscellaneous things related to living outside without technology. Nothing too extensive, it was presumptuous to think that they would be without food, water, electricity, and the other amenities; America had truly fallen if it could not supply food and power to its citizens.

Saturday, some day in late October, Moon and Nate were at home resting. Codsworth their new Mr. Handy had taken care of Shaun. The two were discussing plans to go out and have a good time at the park. Life was good, sure a strange salesman had come along and did his pitch; other than that things were fine. Then the TV blared an emergency alert, the US was under a nuclear attack, the Sino-American war had escalated once again. Few realized the direness of this Great War, few cared. All that Moon could remember was the pounding of her heart, the labored breath as they sped past their neighbor to get to safety, the cries of worry and anger and raw emotion from those who all but likely were not able to make it to safety, and the relief of making it to the vault.

The family of three made themselves to the decompressive chambers that would leave them to their new home. Moon had given Shaun over to his father. Nate held him, squeezed with much care, as if he had nearly lost something of great importance worth dying for. Then the pods, silence, the gunshots, and the crying. After so long out she popped from her capsule, her casket, her supposed tomb; alone and in a world gone to hell.
