Evil Reborn
Vampirism Unleashed
Chapter 1

Circe was giddy with anticipation, though she tried her best to keep that from showing. So many years of reading and planning and yearning…coming to a head tonight. She led her friends, Rachel and Hannah, down into her parents' large, but unfinished, basement. She had already prepared everything for tonight, and things would soon move very quickly. After tonight….everything changes…or it was all a waste of time she thinks, some stubborn doubt creeping into her normally confident thoughts.
Circe was 5’8”, with dark red hair, a slim athletic figure and dark, mischievous, intelligent brown eyes. Though she could turn on a compelling charm when she wanted to, she often chose not to, much happier in her own thoughts. Other people generally irritated her. Circe’s family’s wealth and status, coupled with her good looks and intelligence made her automatically popular, even though she largely stayed out of the social churn of her senior year high school class. She was dreaming of something bigger.
Her “friend” Rachel was 5’5” - curvier with curly brown hair and sparkling blue eyes. Her face was kind, the type that stupid people usually have. Rachel was not the smartest, but she was utterly devoted to her best friend, Circe. Circe had cultivated the girl early. Hannah was a blonde, 5’3” – Rachel’s friend from the volleyball team which is how she had come into Circe’s orbit. Hannah’s interest in astrology had made her a natural target for what was to come.
“This is so cool!” Hannah said bubbily as the women entered an unfinished room in the basement lit by fluttering candles all around. The center of the room was dominated by a large pentagram that Circe had drawn with a generous amount of salt. In the dim light, it was hard to see the handcuffs bolted to the floor with a bit of chain.
Circe nodded and smiled, and then shared a knowing but brief moment of eye contact with Rachel. Rachel stealthily moved to close and lock the door quietly behind them. Hannah, taken in by the kitsch of it all, didn’t even notice. “I’ve been to fortune tellers, but this feels so legit” Hannah said, still under the impression that they were going to mess around with a ouija board tonight and babble about star signs.
Turning on her charm, like a switch, Circe spoke: “Hannah, I’m soooo glad that you could come to our reading!” Circe gushed, “it will be a night to remember, I promise!”. Going to a small table in the corner she fetched a blindfold. “Let’s do you first, but the magic only works if your eyes are covered” she said vivaciously, moving to affix the blindfold to the willing Hannah. Rachel and Circe lead the blinded Hannah to the center of the pentagram, careful to not disturb the salt line. Gently, Rachel guides Hannah to kneel in the center.
Click, click
“Hey, what the hell!” Hannah yells, half playing but with a real hint of fear in her voice as the handcuffs click around her wrists, binding her in the center of the pentagram.
“It will be over soon, don’t be scared” Circe says, seeing no need to keep up the charade. “Or do be scared, I don’t care” she says coldly. Pretending to be nice is so exhausting she thinks. “Rachel, get the gag” Circe says, gesturing at the table. Circe helps Rachel affix the ball gag in Hannah’s mouth as the girl yanks on her restraints. As Rachel uses scissors to cut away Hannah’s blouse and bra, Circe puts her backpack on the floor and kneels. Opening it, she removes a very old looking leather bound book and a worn but beautiful cherry wood box. From the box, she takes a dagger with an ornate handle and a slightly curvy blade.
Looking at Rachel, Circe sees a bit of doubt in the girl’s face as she eyes the dagger. “No turning back now!” Circe says reassuringly but sternly, “we are so close!”
“Let me go you freaks!” the now sobbing Hannah screams into her gag, though it just sounds like mm me mggg mmm fmmms. Circe approaches Hannah, again careful not to disturb the salt, and uses the tip of the dagger to shallowly cut into Hannah’s cheek. Ruby red blood drips to the floor as as Hannah screams. Circe does a few more cuts on Hannah’s breasts, shoulders and back for good measure. She doesn’t want to spill too much blood after all, not yet.
As blood dribbles onto the dusty concrete floor, Circe leaves the pentagram and retrieves the book, and walks to Rachel. She grabs the girl’s hand and it gives it a comforting squeeze. It is clammy. Circe flips through the old parchment-paged book. It had taken all of her birthday money saved over several years to acquire it. She settles on the passage she was searching for. Leaning over she gives Rachel a quick peck on the cheek, eliciting Rachel’s first smile of the evening.
Circe begins to read, at first tentatively but gathering confidence as she does.
O Lilitu! Mater tenebrarum. Malum primogenitum. Te per inane vocamus, per chaos, per tenebras. Redde ad nos. Redi nunc ad nos! Indue mundum tuo malo denuo. Sanguine terram demitte. Restituere ordinem naturae. Redde nunc nobis, Mater Lilitu!
Nothing seems to happen. Rachel looks at Circe fearfully, just annoying Circe more. The only sound in the basement is Hannah’s sobbing which has quieted to whimpering and Rachel nervously shuffling her feet. Rachel feels a pit developing in her stomach. I did everything right… she thinks angrily.
Suddenly, there is a flash of white light and the ground shakes. The cement floor of the basement cracks from the stress as Rachel and Circe feel a hot wind on their faces as the light gets brighter. They cover their eyes, smelling sulfur in their nostrils. Gradually, the light and the shaking subside. Circe opens her eyes, and gasps, squeezing Rachel’s hand tight.
In the center of the pentagram is the most beautiful woman that either of them had ever seen. Tall, at least 6’3”, with ghostly pale skin, thick black hair and strong features. Her figure was impeccable with full breasts, a narrow waist and flared hips. She was muscular but in a very feminine way. Her eyes were dark and deep, her lips a dark cherry red. She grins at the girls, revealing sparkling white fangs.
In a flash, faster than the human eye can see, the woman is kneeling behind Hannah. Yanking Hannah’s head to the side, the woman drives her sharp fangs into Hannah’s neck. Hannah whimpers as the sound of the creature’s frenzied gulping fills the room. She bites deeper into Hannah’s neck, tearing it, as blood pours down over Hannah’s breasts.
Circe can’t look away. She always knew that this would work. She believed in herself. She had summoned immortality. Circe finds herself totally enchanted. She should be afraid, horrified, disgusted, but inexplicably watching the creature feed is the most beautiful scene she has ever witnessed. Rather than supernatural, it feels like the most natural thing that there is. Circe looks over to see that Rachel must be thinking the same.
The creature withdraws her fangs from Hannah’s now exsanguinated corpse let’s the body slump to the floor. Eyes closed, she traces her lips with her fingertips. Circe cannot believe the creature’s otherworldly beauty. She is stunning.
Abruptly the creature opens her eyes and stares at Circe, boring holes into the girl.
“Why have you summoned me!” the creature demands.
