Dungeons and Dragons: Royal Prerogative

A/N: Hey guys, this is my first story on CHYOA, set in the DnD universe. For a more accurate setting, this is set in the year 1360, based on the Forgotten Realms Ck2 mod I’ve been playing lately.

Do note that this is a public story, so I encourage prospective or interested writers to try creating their own threads where possible. Will be working on the rules for new threads after I post the first few chapters.

With that, let us begin.

Prologue

The world of Toril, a world of many fantastical creatures savage and intelligent alike, home to both wonders and dangers that bewilder and terrify any and all who live on its surface. Elves, Dwarves, Humans, Orcs and other races often compete and vie for power, eager to secure a piece of the world for themselves or their kindred.

You are one of countless millions living on the continent of Faerûn, one of countless millions looking to live your life without dying to any form of disaster, be it in the form of monster attacks, corrupt nobles or war.

Yet, you are not one of the numerous civilians living simple, honest lives in peace, neither are you a soldier or a merchant, or even a mercenary looking to strike a fortune from performing dirty work. No, you are one of the self-styled Kings and Queens carving a kingdom of their own on the continent, struggling to preserve your own sovereign rule in the face of monster invasions or political intrigues.

You may never know who is truly your enemy or ally; anyone could be scheming behind your back, anyone could be scheming to take the throne from you, be it directly or indirectly. Nobles and politicians always desire power, in this Great Game.

And in the face of such scheming, you must ensure your Kingdom and your bloodline endures, and that enduring prosperity blesses your people no matter the bad times that follow.

Take care you do not make careless decisions; a single mistake or weakness can spell your premature end.
