A Tale of Two Brother As They Navigate College Life

Chapter 1 by adam17017 adam17017

Alex Jones lay in bed and looked at his clock sitting on his bedside table. The time showed 6:28, two minutes before his alarm would go off. He continued to wake up only a couple of minutes before his alarm, his mom said it might have something to do with his anxiety issues, but Alex thought it was more likely to do with his recurring dream of winning the state championship with his basketball team, and the excitement that continued to come with it.

Alex squinted as the sun filtered through his curtains covering his windows. He sat up, yawned and dragged his hand through his shaggy blonde hair. Sure enough, his alarm blared annoyingly as the clock hit 6:30 and he snoozed it without a second thought. He heard his mom stomp up the stairs and yell "Alex, I know you're awake, I heard your alarm! Get out of bed, or you're going to be late for practice!"

"I'm up mom! I'll be down in a sec." Practice was the only downside of any organized sport and the fact that most of the practices happened to be early in the morning, or in the evening after classes. He got out of the covers and looked himself over in the mirror. He was tall for his age, 19, standing at 6ft 3, he had been practically type casted into the sport from a young age due to his height. His twin brother Matthew was much the same height, but whereas Alex had hesitantly joined the basketball team as a junior in high school, Matthew had been the captain of the high school team, and was being groomed to be the captain of the college team as well, both of them having received scholarships to play for the college.

Alex put on his jersey over his bare, slightly muscled chest and changed out of his boxers into his basketball shorts and bounded down the stairs after quickly brushing his teeth. "Morning sleepy head. Do you have a ride to the gym today?" His mom asked. Sherry Jones was in her mid forties, her blonde hair graying slightly at the temples, today she had it held back by a red hair band. She was and had been a single mother to the two brothers since their father passed away around ten years back from a car crash. He had himself been a star college basketball player, and the community saw the two brothers as the next generation of the Jones' family legacy.

Sherry was still good looking according to Alex's friends joking remarks, he did have to admit that her curves did put girls his age to shame. He did notice on a number of occasions when he had girls over, that they would cast jealous glances over at his mom's ass or tits when she wasn't looking. He soon learned that maybe bringing a girl over when his mom was home, maybe wasn't the best idea.

Alex was currently single. He had a serious relationship as recent as last year, but the pressures of extra curricular activities as well as Joey's struggling grades made things difficult to overcome. Joey Robinson was a cheerleader, and unlike Alex, she was never going to receive a scholarship, she spent summer's working to save up for tuition, and grew to resent what she thought of Alex's and Matthew's priviliged life. She would be attending the same college, but Alex hadn't heard from her all summer and had heard that she was dating someone new. Joey had always been the kind of girl that saved sex for marriage, and Alex never pressured her in any way. Alex was no virgin though, his brother made sure of that. As soon as they turned eighteen, Matthew had taken Alex to a strip club and bought him time in a VIP room. Thankfully, Alex played his cards right, and got lucky that night.

Matthew on the other hand, had been going steady with their high school cheer captain for almost three years, and it was at the point now, that he spent as much time at her place as he did at his own. Matthew's girlfriend, Taylor, came from a powerful family in the town of Three Rivers, where the brothers were born and attended school.

"Matt should be coming by to pick me up, he just texted me that he's on his way from Taylor's." Alex responded to his mom's earlier question.

"Ok great. Be careful out there and have fun on your first day of college!" She said, her blue eyes looking at his own from across the counter.

"I will mom, see you when I get back." Alex said as he strode out the door.
