Cocknar the Barbarian
The Conquest of a World
Chapter 1
by kalos555
Black, frizzy hair clumsily hangs over a long, warm face. Hooded amber eyes, set far within their sockets, watch impatiently over the spirits they've sought solace in for so long.
A tattoo resembling a lion paw is displayed just above the side of his right eye leaves a satisfying memory of forbidden adventures. You are Cocknar the Barbarian.
You are confident, coarse and versatile. Which isn't out of the ordinary for someone with an ugly past.
You was born and grew up in a small family in a developing village, lived free of trouble until about 9 years old, but at that point things changed.
Cocknar lost his family was they were split up after a terrible disaster and was arrested. While persued by strangers Cocknar had to survive in a criminal world. But with his fighting skills and persistance, Cocknar managed to battle the elements and escape hell. This has turned him into the man he is today.
Having finally found some stability, Cocknar now works on travelling and surviving of nature.
What was once a t-shirt is now nothing more than a collection of dirt, loose pieces of fabric and holes, only barely able to hang from his shoulders like a discarded old towel.
There's a big tear across the backside and holes all over the front, leaving much of him exposed to the elements.
He's wearing a scraggy coat over his t-shirt. It's far too big and stained with who knows what, but at least it helps him stay relatively dry, even if only for a little.
His pants are in terrible shape as well. The left side is torn up and nothing more than a bunch shreds. But at least he has shoes to protect his feet.
In front of your eyes there is a city. This city is Kilbrook.
The city of Kilbrook was built at the edge of a dense, tall forest and is truly a classic city. Its wonder is matched by the backdrop of snowy mountains which have helped shape the city to what it is today.
The riches these mountains brought were of great importance, but they were also influential when it came to architectural designs as the vast majority of buildings mimic the broad slopes and steep peeks of the mountains.
The skyline is growing with soaring skyscrapers and they all seem to be in perfect unison despite being different. The quality of life is high in Kilbrook and it has attracted a lot of attention. New cultures have left their mark not just on trade and relations, but also upon the city's identity. What historically was a city of monotony has grown into a large melting pot and it's this that unites the 1 million people to this day.
It's this multicultural identity that has truly left its mark. Hundreds of theme restaurants, bistros and concession stands offer a plethora of culinary choices and those who feel hungry for something else can enjoy the gladiatorial arena, art galleries, nature or one of the many other black market recreational venues.
Go to the Inn.
