Cathy's Night Out

Chapter 1 by CApybara CApybara

My wife, Cathy, was out for dinner with an old friend from graduate school -- someone she sees once in blue moon, though they always enjoy a chance to catch up on whatever it is two women with families and disparate lives talk about when they get together. Not sports and strippers, I'd guess.

I'd put the kids to bed, and settled on the couch with the television on, catching up on some odds and ends I'd brought home from the office. Before I knew it, I'd fallen asleep, and awoke to the front door opening slowly, and my wife tiptoeing in shoes in hand. "Sorry, " she said, when she saw that I was on the couch and had been asleep. "Go back to sleep. "

"I'm not asleep," I mumbled, denying the obvious. "How was dinner? How is Linda?"

"Delicious. I'll tell you later. "

"Delicious?" I asked.

"Dinner was delicious. "

"Oh, I thought... never mind. "

She walked passed me down the hall towards the bedroom. As I got up to follow her, I noticed that her hair was messy, windswept, perhaps, and had her lipstick been smudged? This line of thought was snowballing. And I hadn't noticed when she had reached behind her back to unhook her bra, and yet I could see through her sheer blouse that unhooked it was.

Does he ask her about his suspicions, or see what she says?
