A big change and ripple effects
Chapter 1

Sometimes things don’t go as planned. You try to live a happy life and your family is killed. You try to seek **** and when you get it you feel hollow. You try to drink yourself to **** and others try to kill you in ****. And when you finally for once in your life take the initiative to change things, to make a difference before one is **** upon you, you get gutted and left in one of several secret sanctums that your pursuers did not know of.
Dozens of things ran through the mind of this man as his breathing grew more shallow and the world grew more cold. His only wish had been to fix what was broken, get rid of the corrupt, and save the world. He attempted to chuckle but coughed up blood instead. That child who stabbed me in the chest proclaimed himself a hero as well. Funny how similar perspectives can still put people on opposing sides. He considered attempting to heal the injury, he could as proficient a mage as he was, but it wouldn’t be fast. Maybe a decade or two to return to his full strength just so he could get stabbed again.
He lifted a blood-soaked palm and began to create glyphs in the air. It seemed almost as if he were touching glass the way his blood smeared across the air to form the symbols. The room around him seemed to fade to darkness, whether that was due to the spell he was attempting to cast or the blood loss he did not know but he would see this through. A spell to create change. A spell that would warp the world as he knows it immediately once it was finished. He had decided early on in this path that this type of method wouldn’t work and could be undone and wouldn’t be right. It also required him to sacrifice himself which he wasn’t fond of as a cost, but at this point letting his soul drift to be reborn in a world free of its current ugliness didn’t sound too bad. As he finished the final glyph he drew his last breath and darkness overtook him.
The world was changed from this moment on in a way very few could detect or remember. All of it had been perverted in the most literal sense. Rules seemed to reverse, people seemed to change, and the entire world shifted its history to make sense of the new rules. Most of it did anyway. **** of the previous world had practically disappeared in all of the conventional ways and with it so did many of the previous vocations. Still, some things must remain to decide things once reason had no more effect and those things too had been perverted.
Many disputes were now settled with games, challenges, and tests of will. No true wars had ever taken place in this world, though some of the evils of the past still existed in this one, Intelligent beings still existed after all. Plagues, natural disasters, and technological advances still occurred to claim lives, but none had ever taken advantage of them for some unknown reason. Political struggles, economic disparity, and villainy among the powerful still exist in this world too, but taking few to no lives in the way that they play out.
Magic still existed in this world as it was fundamental to its creation as well as the only way to revert the changes made to this world. Mages, magicians, wizards, and witches however had drastically changed in some very specific ways. Previously magic had come with the cost of mana and the time to learn the proper words, runes, or glyphs. Now magic had the cost of sanity, purity, and intelligence which often meant the greatest mages were either perverts, nymphos, idiots, or had made some sort of other sacrifice for their power. Though the mage had not meant to, he had created a world in which magic knowledge was far behind his, and undoing the spell would be a nearly impossible task.
