Chapter 1 by WilltheBoatmaster WilltheBoatmaster

"Behold, my dear comrades, the great castle of Arman!" Erin yelled with such that Herbalia rubbed her ears. She looked up at her friend in annoyance. The Magic-User didn't note the glare she received. Instead, she rushed down the slope of the hill they stood on and almost tumbled downwards. The others quickly rushed to her side to try and stop her descent. It was Driz'ia who got to her first. The dark elf place a hand on the tumbling woman's shoulder, planted her feet into the ground, and did her best to bleed off Erin's speed. She thankfully managed, though at one point she almost fell with her.

The dark-elf gripped Erin's shoulder, took her to her feet, and wiped the woman down. A glare, the dark elf looked down at her own outfit for any specks of mud. Erin merely gave a cheeky grin.

"Erin, honey. Please, do try and not roll down any more hills. Unlike you, I do try and keep a semblance of professionalism." Driz'ia added. The other members of her party soon caught up. One of them breathing heavily. A dwarf with a long ponytail planted both of her hands onto her legs and began to suck in air. Herbalia, the halfling, helped the woman try and breath.

"Crazy human trying to kill me! You know I can't run far!" Thorgi yelled.

"You're just getting fat, it was barely a jog." Herbalia replied. Thorgi almost pushed the halfling onto her ass, but missed her by a few inches. The halfling laughed, being smaller than the dwarf, but much more proportionate in stature, gave her a bit more agility than Thorgi. The final member of the party was much more militant, she whistled and the group immediately regained some semblance of composure. Liara pointed forwards and spoke to the gathered women.

"Erin. Lead on."

The Magic-User nodded. Once more she took the lead, this time with the others right behind her. Lackadaisical in her movements, once they arrived at the large front doors of the castle, Erin slapped them.

"Hello, is there anyone there?~ She sang. Immediately, the others sighed in annoyance and prepared themselves for a fight. It wouldn't have been the first time Erin's approach alerted a sleeping troll or ogre. Still, it sometimes surprised them. One time they were politely led into a once thought to be abandoned fortress by a small tribe of goblins. They waited, then both doors creaked open just wide enough for some light to enter. The others took their positions, waiting for what happened next. Nothing came. Liara, blinking, patted Herbalia's shoulder. She pointed forwards. The halfling knew what she needed to do. She slowly slunk forwards, did a once over of the entire doorway, then turned around.

"It's empty!" She cried out. The group breathed a sigh of relief. They immediately pushed open the great doors, a bit difficult due to their weight, and went inside to investigate further. The party arrived inside a massive entryway. An old rug stretched forty feet forward into another entrance deeper into the castle. Great paintings and murals were hung on the walls. Old furniture was strung about. Two staircases on either side led upwards into the shadowy top of the castle. A strange apparatus gave a noticeable, yet still somewhat dim, light to the entire place. The five adventurers tightly packed themselves together, while Herbalia could detect any mechanical traps, ambushes were not of the consideration. After ten or so minutes of nothing coming out, the group disbanded and headed farther into the castle's interior. However, the group heard an almost playfully quiet 'ting', sounding as if it simultaneously wanted to be heard and not be heard, like someone was toying with them.

Thorgi turned around to watch the doors behind them close. She tried to rush forward, but alas, she couldn't. A loud thud echoed out, followed by a whispery voice filling the room.

"Doors will open again in five hours. Please enjoy your host's hospitality."

"By my ancestors' beard, we're trapped!" Thorgi exclaimed.

"Don't worry, dwarf. We'll be fine, at least it didn't fill the place with poisonous gas, remember that?" Herbalia assured the dwarf. Laura immediately looked over to Driz'ia, who was checking their supply of food. Erin, meanwhile, playfully stood on a chair, one hand reaching for a painting. Hopefully it was going to be a fast five hours.
