Who has these pheromones?

Tommy, just unemployed

Chapter 3 by agraol

13 dollars, that's what i had left until I got another job. That and a bag of like 10 Kilos of rice. Luckily i bought them in bulk, so i had some food for a bit. If only i was as smart when it came to keeping my job, I'd go to MENSA and get tested. On the other hand, I'm not so certain that i could've kept my job, given the circumstances. How was I to know that some D-Lister villain would use our product to try his hand at some new evil project and blame it on me?

They also had to check the cameras and discovered i was 'borrowing' some of coffee grounds of the lunch room every month. But I think that was just their Casus Belli. The result was the same, justified termination.

I focused once more on my current - and daily - meal:

white rice with a 'broth' made from - also stolen - instant soup packets.

What could I say, when I discovered they didn't (usually) check the cameras in the lunch room, I started taking some inconsequential commodities.

So know, in my moment of need, I actually also had almost a box full of instant soup packages. Between it and my rice bag, it took space in my - rather reduced - living space. At least it was mine, so i didn't have to worry about rent. Just about the almost daily occurrences of someone or other extra-powered person destroying your home

Sadly for me , this was in one of the seedier neighborhoods in Gotham.

And fuck me if in thinking about it i made it reality. I heard the telling 'click' of my - rather bare - security measures, a plastic window lock.

I just sat there - on the floor, I had to sell some furniture to pay the bills - and watched the window. One learns really quick to not react hastily - you never know which super-powered asshole you can piss off mistakenly.

It was the correct idea. The window opened rather carefully, silently. And the first thing to slide in was a pair of pink horns. A horned hairdo on second look. The figure opened the window just enough to slide inside the apartment with an imperceptible forward roll, and in came one of said super-powered assholes. The Jinx.

She made some rather threatening gestures towards me, clearly calling me to stay silent, and proceeded to close the window again. Shen then hid under the windowsill, and peered out the rather dirty and cloudy window pane. It was just fast enough as a rather dark figure flew just in front of the window, fast enough to make some noise. That was clearly her pursuer.

I just kept eating. At the moment I had nothing of value she could steal from me, only my life. And the best way to deal with this villains - sometimes - was ignoring their antics, because - well - dead men tell no tales and all that.

I also was pondering about this particular villain, she was not usually in this city. I couldn't resist throwing some side way glances at her. At some point, she decided she was safe from pursuit she relaxed and started looking around her. She was clearly hoping for something worth stealing, and her disappointment was clear in her face.
"What the fuck? why is your house empty!? I was hoping for a couple of trinkets at least!"

It took me a few seconds to pick up that she actually expected me to answer

"eeeeh... " I cleared my throat "I was fired from my job two weeks ago" My voice was raspy from under-use.

You could see some of the harshness of her words leave her face. Her face was almost feline, with almond like eyes of a brightly pink color, and a dusky, giving gray, unblemished skin.

While looking like she wanted to say something, she took a deep breath and stopped, her nose twitching like a bunnies.

"That smells good, what is it?" She started looking around again. She came closer to me, trying to sniff the rice soup i was currently eating.

"It's just basmati rice and some instant soup" I chided her "nothing magical"

"No that's not it" She came right up to me and rather unabashedly sniffed my neck. For this she had to kneel next to me and get rather close, which made me take more notice of her. "You smell really good dude" She seemed to realize what she was doing and fell back some, blushing. "It must be your cologne" I didn't have the gall to correct her that I didn't own cologne, and I was currently unwashed for the third day, trying to save on the water bill if I didn't leave the apartment. And also depression, its harsh.

"Whatever. Let's make a deal" She was still blushing somewhat. "You will not tell anyone who you saw just now, and I in exchange will give you my number, so you can message this beautiful goddess " She made a pose that I'm sure she thought was really sexy. I had my notes.

I had nothing to loose and everything to loose right now, so of course I agreed. She took my phone and added herself to it, and also sent herself a message. Then, she gave me a cutesy salute with her fingers behind her back and left from the same window she came in from.

That was the day when my life turned more complicated.
