Chapter 3 by Hummingbird11 Hummingbird11

Where is the Normality Dial?

Remnant

Mike blinked his eyes, and suddenly he was in a whole new place surrounded by many different people. Some of them had more noticeable animal traits than others. At first, he wondered if he was transported to a con, but nobody seemed to be having fun and was walking around as if it was business as usual. Mike wondered what happened to him as he realized he was holding a piece of paper.

Letter

Hello Mike,

I have chosen you to take part in a little experiment of mine. I’ve plucked you from your reality and left you here in the world of Remnant. I know you’re familiar with the world and its history since I’ve taken a glance at your memories. Don’t worry, I haven’t manipulated them in any way, so I wouldn’t worry about that. Anyway, I knew that placing a defenseless human with no identity in this relatively harsh world would be boring, so I decided to spice it up a little bit by giving you an all-powerful artifact instead. On your arm should be the Normality Dial and it's capable of some truly amazing things. On the back of this paper, you’ll find the instructions for this device and how to use it. Also, just to relieve some of the lingering doubts you may have. I just want you to know that I don’t expect anything in return. Whether you choose to use the device to its fullest abilities or throw it away is up to you. I just look forward to watching what you do next.

-Hummingbird

PS I’ve placed you a day before the Beacon Entrance Exam starts. Good Luck.

Mike saw the weird-looking watch on his arm and questioned if this was happening. He walked over to a nearby bench and flipped over the paper to see the other side. He quickly read the back and learned all he needed to know about the watch. If everything in this letter was true, then he could do anything he wanted, and no one would be able to stop him. If he did everything correctly, then no one would want to stop him either.

The first thing he did was change the dial to Affinity. The other options could be useful in certain scenarios, but for the most part he rather his actions be seen in the best possible way no matter what he did. He also changed the dial to old and started making a few normalities to make sure he kept his power.

Normally, this Normality Dial is indestructible. He couldn’t allow anyone to destroy it, even by accident. It’s normal that I’m the only person able to use and wear the Normality Dial. He couldn’t have anyone else use it either. Who knows what they could do? It’s normal for the Normality Dial to teleport onto my wrist when I say the words, “Huge Wave.” The last one was to ensure that he could never lose it either.

Mike believed that everything had changed according to what he said, but there wasn’t any actual proof anything he said actually happened. He changed the dial to contemporary and made another change. It’s normal for me to know my way around this city.

Instantly, Mike knew the city like the back of his hand and knew shortcuts that only people who had lived here their whole lives could know. The knowledge just appeared in his mind the second after he made the normality. He smiled knowing that all his other normalities must have worked too. Hummingbird said that he was planted the day before the Beacon Exam, so he didn’t have time to mess around with the town when corruptible future huntsmen and huntresses were waiting for him. He started making his way towards Beacon Academy as he thought about his next move.

First things first, he was going to need to get Ozpin on his side. He couldn’t have an immortal wizard getting in his way. It’s normal for the soul or souls inside of the man known as Ozpin to be in complete agreement that they will forever be my loyal, obedient whose main purpose is to fulfill all my wants and desires while keeping me safe no matter what it is. Everything was going well so far, but he needed more control over people. He didn’t want to make a normality every single time he wanted to manipulate someone.

It’s normal for people to enter a deep hypnotic trance where they will believe anything I tell them as fact and will answer all my questions in the trance honestly when I poke them with a finger from my left hand with a desire for them to enter the trance. It’s normal that I can simply poke them again with any finger on my left hand to end the trance. It’s also normal that if I poke them with a finger from my right hand with the desire for them to enter a trance, then they will enter a deep hypnotic trance where their mind isn’t open to suggestions, but their body will hear anything that is described about it and reality will change to make any statements heard by the body true.

Mike thought that should be good enough for the moment. As he was making his various changes, he finally made his way to the Bullhead launching pads that would transport him to Beacon. He realized that he didn’t have any form of ID let alone money that would work in this world. However, he wasn’t worried about it. Mike saw that some older students were getting on the Bullhead and he simply brushed past the guard as he followed them inside. The guard didn’t even bother to stop him, but instead gave him a thumbs up when he turned around to see their reaction. However, if he did get violent, then he wouldn’t be able to stop him. He might as well make a change to prevent that from happening. It’s normal for people to be unable to seriously harm or kill me no matter what they do. Mike just smiled as he realized that this world was truly his for the taking.

Who does he see first?
