The world of Ka-ren the Barbarian

The adventures of Ka-ren the Barbarian take place in a fantasy world named Howaru. Like the Hyborian Earth in the Conan stories, Howaru is a reimagining of our planet. Its size, location within the solar system, flora and fauna are identical to those of Earth, but with significant geographical differences.

The name “Howaru” is an homage to Robert E. Howard, creator of Conan the Barbarian. According to Nanase Ohkawa, the word is a corruption of the phonetic spelling of the way a Japanese person would mispronounce the name “Howard”.
