Let’s meet the nurses and Michelle

John is changing into his white work clothes. The cruise company recommends that whenever he is on duty he wears his white uniform. He has four identical outfits. Actually John finds it rather fitting and he likes it. Fully dressed it is time to meet the other members of the staff.

It is still two and a half hours before departure but the shift is about to begin. His ship Extravaganza always leaves Miami on Sunday afternoon. It is a seven day cruise. They will visit several countries in the Caribbean.

There are five other members of the staff that have been working a week and are now on leave until next week. They are the other team of doctors and nurses that works at the ship. These two teams alternate and works one week each before they are free for a week. John’s team is team B and the other team is team A.

John has met the other members in his group A before. It was when he interviewed for the position. It was over two months ago so it will be nice to meet them again.

It will be especially nice to see Janice again. The hot blonde is exactly his type. Tall with a great rack. However John is not going to get involved with other staff members. There will probably be a lot of other women equally interesting. The passengers are more suitable for amusement purposes. But Janice with her long slender legs definitely made an impression on John. He is about to step out among the passengers for the first time as a doctor onboard the cruise ship Extravaganza. He looks at himself in the mirror and he looks different from his days at a hospital in Manchester. Very different but he enjoys the white outfit.

In the corridor he greats some of the passengers. Most of them are looking for their cabins. It is rather frantic on board less than two and a half hours before departure. After less than five minutes he is outside of the medical center. Elegant and minimalist styling informs the passengers about the center.

Through the window he can see that Angela is working behind the counter. Well how about meeting them now. It is open and no patients are in the reception area.

He enters the place and Angela looks up and she smiles when she recognizes him. She stands up and in her white tight nurse uniform she looks awesome. “Welcome John. Congratulation to the new job. Hope you will enjoy working with us. Hope you have settled in well in your cabin. “All the papers I need about you have arrived. Mostly from you of course but also from the hospital in Manchester where you previously worked. Also from the University of Oxford. All the paperwork is now completed so you are licensed for all your work. Writing prescriptions for example is something you can do now. We have the basic supplies onboard and the patient gets the medicine at the pharmacy. If we don’t have the medicine on board I will take care of it and usually we will get it the next day when we board the next harbor. We visit one new harbor each day so the patient doesn’t have to wait long for the medicine. “

John says goodbye to Michelle and starts to inspect all the rooms at the clinic. There are a couple of small examining rooms and some other rooms with more equipment. One area is actually for minor operations. Both he and Mike are qualified to remove an appendix or something similar that is not to complicated. Normally however they wait until they are in port and then the patient will be taken care of by the local hospital. For each harbor and country they visit they have contacts with local hospitals and do the procedures there.

Suddenly Angela arrives. She is in a hurry and she tells John.

“We have a patient who insists seeing a doctor. Janice will inform you more about her. So please get ready to see your first patient. In five to ten minutes she will see you in your examining room. Yours is the one the right. The patient is Miss Cindy Prado. “
