The Old Amusment Park

As she looked over her notes, she kept coming back to this clipped article about a haunted amusement park. Supposedly haunted, she clarified to herself. The park itself had been struggling for 7 years and had been shut down for the last three. People had always reported strange happenings at the park since it's closure, but in the last 6 months things seemed to have gotten worse.

Velma found this to be quite the coincidence seeing as how it was in the last 6 months that several interested parties had expressed interest in purchasing the park. The article didn't go into the exact nature of the hauntings. It mentioned things like strange sounds coming from the park at night, weird figures seen roaming the grounds, and other strange occurrences.

The park was still privately owned, and up until this point the owners hadn't wanted to get the police involved. All this added up to a mystery that was right up there alley.

She expressed all this to Fred the next morning as they loaded up the van. "Sounds good. I think it's worth checking out. Good job Velma."

"Thanks Fred," she replied. 'I know a better way you could thank me,' she thought to herself, catching the smiles and side glances between Fred and Daphne.

Once they had checked out of the hotel and reloaded the van they were off. The park itself was about half an hour away. They killed the time by chatting and telling jokes. As the top of a roller coaster became visible in the distance, Velma had her first hint of unease. She couldn't quite put her finger on it, but something didn't feel right. After a few more minutes of driving, the rest of the old park came into view and they could see the old rusted sign welcoming them in.

"All right gang, this is it," Fred said confidently.
