Chapter 189 by zewesman zewesman

“The mind of a child is truly wonderful,” Gali said with a smile as she snuggled with Yaya in her arms.

Regroup and Relearn

“We’ll take her with us,” John said as he peaked out the door.

“Who?” asked Shelly.

“What?” replied John.

“Who the fuck is gonna carry that woman who saw Conan the Barbarian and was like ‘I want to be that when I grow up!’” retorted Shelly. John sighed as he went over to the **** woman and easily picked her up.

“Me. I am,” John told Shelly in a rather matter of fact tone.

“You are stronger than you look,” complimented Shelly.

Gamer’s Body is pretty awesome,” John said as he clicked the notifications button in his UI to see what he missed. He swiped away most of the notifications that told him his powers had been disabled or he had taken damage but did make sure to read the ones that gave him new abilities.

New module gained: Digimon Tamer

Digimon Tamer allows the user to command Digimon in battle. A strong friendship will increase chances of Digimon evolving in battle and increase their power overall.

So just like the games, that’s good to know. I mean, I am The Gamer so of course they would. John thought to himself as he read over the module’s description.

New ability gained: Digimon Status

Digimon Status allows the Tamer to see their Digimon’s status in gaming terms.

New ability gained: Digital Shift

Digital Shift allows the caster to create a unique Digital Barrier that will allow the use of Digimon within its borders. Enemy mages will still be able to use their magic and all technomages gain a 100% boost to all their powers.

Oh shit, I can use my Digimon in battle in a practical way! John said to himself excitedly! I’ll have to see if I can make a Digital Field in my kingdom to allow Digimon to live there easily. I’m sure the derps would love to have their digital friends to play with. Of course they also have dinosaur friends. Man derps are OP... thought John as he went over the sheer power the derps held. Glad they are on my side. decided John.

“So good news: I got a Digimon Tamer module, so I can use Digimon in battle now. Also, I got an ability that lets me make a digital barrier to make it so they can be used in combat effectively,” John told his group.

“Oh? Does that mean we’ll be able to see our own Digimon in this barrier?” asked Gali.

“I’m gonna go out on a limb and say yes, there’s a possiblity,” John told his head priestess, who smiled at the answer.

“Good. I am quite excited to see what my egg hatches into,” Gali told her king.

“Don’t worry, we’ll get all those eggs hatched and ready to go back to the kingdom. I plan on adding a digital field that will allow Digimon to exist there,” replied John.

“Like, that’s tots awesome!” chimed in Sam. “Zurumon tots grew on me.”

The group then looked at Shelly, waiting for her to say anything.

“Ok fine...I may not think that Yuramon is kinda ok…” was all they got out of Shelly.

“Good enough for me, let’s go,” John said as they were about to exit the room when they heard the shuffle of footsteps and the unmistakable chatter of the German language.

"Wo verstecken sich diese dreckigen Amerikaner?" said the German soldier on the right.

"Woher soll ich das wissen? Überprüfe alle offenen Türen in diesem Gang. Es war der letzte Ort and dem wir sie gesehen haben, bevor unser Überwachungssystem ausgeschaltet wurde." replied the German soldier on the left.

"Ugh, gut. Ich were dieses Zimmer überprüfen."* said the soldier on the right as he moved to open the door to the room where John’s group was currently holed up in.

“Oh shit!” whispered John. “Quick everyone get near me. I’m not sure the range of this ability,” John said as he activated Digital Barrier. The room seemed to flicker black for a moment before strands of data seemed to pour in from all around them as the room molded into a fused landscape of a prairie fused with the room they had previously been in.

“So, uh, looked like it worked,” Shelly said as her Yuramon appeared at her feet.

“Pew!” said the baby Digimon as it bounced up and down happily to see Shelly again.

“Ugh, yes, I see you,” she said as she bent down and picked up Yuramon. The Digimon happled nuzzled her chest as it made mewing sounds.

“Oh look, my egg!” Gali said as she picked up the digitama. The moment she touched it, the digitama glowed brightly as it hatched into her Digimon. A small Digimon covered in yellow fur with a fluffy yellow tail that ended with fur appeared in her hand. “You are sooooo adorable!” Gali exclaimed as she brought the Digimon up to her face and rubbed it against her cheek. The Digimon happily returned the favor as the two instantly bonded.

“That is Relemon,” a Plotmon with a white wing in its fur told the group. Will now referred to as Plotmon-A.

“It’ll be happy with the elf,” said a second Plotmon with a black wing in its fur. Will now be referred to as Plotmon-D.

“Ah! My two Plotmon! Have you been watching over everyone?” asked John as he welcomed his Digimon back.

“Yes, with assistance from Lunamon and Coronamon, of course,” said Plotmon-A.

“YAY! OUR DIGIFRENS!” the derps said in unison as they rushed over and hugged their two Digimon.

“Like, you still tots has dat troublemaker drip,” Sam told her Zurumon as she hugged it.

The Nazi soldier looked in the room where John and the gang had been hiding. The nasty enlisted person looked into the empty room. He could have sworn he heard something in the room but saw nothing. He shrugged it off and returned to his colleague in the hall and the two continued their way.

“I believe we are safe now,” John said as he made sure to reject the Nazi’s ability to enter his barrier.

“How can you be so sure?” asked Shelly.

“Turns out I can reject lower leveled enemies from entering this type of barrier. Stronger enemies or tech savvy ones can **** their ways in, however,” John said as he remembered the warning of technomancers getting a 100% boost in his barriers.

“Oh, well I guess that makes sense…” Shelly trailed off as she did not expect such a precise answer from John.

“Alright, everyone, it was good to see you all again but we need to go now. But don’t worry, once we return home, I’ll make sure to bring you all there, ok?” John told their digital companions. They all nodded in understanding at John and would wait for their next summon. John dismissed the barrier and the group was back into the base room.

“Ok, now that the hallway is clear, we’ll move on. Do we know where we are going?” John asked the group. They all looked at each other but nobody spoke a word. After a few moments Shelly decided to speak.

“I had hoped I would have found secret notes from my sister by now,” she informed the group. “We normally do that when one of us is in trouble. The fact that I found none means she is either unable to or…” Shelly was silent for a moment. “unwilling to…” Either option did not spell out a good condition Shelly’s sister would be if they were to find her.

“Do not worry,” Gali said as she softly placed her hand on Shelly’s shoulder. “Your sister is alright. We will find her, and John will ensure she gets out of here with us, right?” Gali asked John.

“Of course. What kind of hero would I be if I couldn’t even rescue the damsel in distress?” joked John as he **** a laugh, which caused Shelly to show the meekest of smiles.

*Translation of German:
“Where are those filthily Americans hiding?”
“How should I know?”
“Check any unlocked door in this hallway. It was the last place we saw them heading before the forces outside took out the surveillance system.”
“Ugh, fine. I'll check this room right there.”

“Damsel in distress is a strong term, I would say,” a female voice said over a loudspeaker in the room, "but not totally inaccurate."
