Chapter 179
by zewesman
“Yas girl! You have, like, no idea! So let me run it by you,” Sam said as she began to tell Gali what happened while she was away.
Paw Patrol
Yatina laid curled up on top of the green digitama with yellow dots on it. The derpy dragon had transformed into her whelp form and had dozed off as she gave into her draconic instincts and sat atop one of the digitamas that were entrusted to her and Mimi.
“Coco, c’mere!” yelled Mimi as she took a break between licks of the egg. The egg was coated in the derpy gorgon’s saliva, which seemed to have an effect on the egg. Between Mimi’s licks and Yatina’s nesting instinct, the digitama did seem nearly ready to hatch.
“Do you need something, Mimi?” asked Coronamon. The derp nodded.
“Can you be all warmy to the egg?” asked Mimi as she pointed to the other side of the digitama.
“Sure, I can do that,” Coronamon said as it moved over to the side she pointed to and sat down next to it. “It seems this digitama will hatch soon. This is quite fast for digitama. You two have somehow sped up the process of digital evolution,” Coronamon told the two derps, to which all he received was blank stares.
“I do not understand anything that is happening before me, except that those two creatures seem to give off the same power as Culumon, a digimon that is the literal embodiment of a digimon’s ability to evolve,” Darcmon said out loud. “Why is the one licking and the other sleeping on the digitama?” asked Darcmon.
“No fucking clue,” answered Shelly.
“Like, those two live rent free in my head with what they do,” Sam told Darcmon.
“How fascinating,” Darcmon said as the three continued to look on at the group.
“Like, one time, Franny told me those two tots turned the entire kingdom into Legos one time!” Sam told the two.
“Bull. Shit,” was all Shelly could say.
“What is a Lego?” asked Darcmon.
“Uhhh...umm...like...they’re like little multicolored blocks that you can build stuff with!” Sam told the curious digimon.
“Like ToyAgumon?” asked Darcmon.
“The fuck is a ‘ToyAgumon?’” asked Shelly.
“This,” Darcmon said as it tapped its staff on the ground to make a projection of a digimon made of Legos.
“Yes! Those!” Sam said excitedly as she clapped excitedly.
“Fascinating. So these are toys in your world that can be used to build things. It’s amazing how the Digital World re-incorporates data it gets from the Human World,” Darcmon told the two women as the three continued to watch the derps do derpy things to the digitama.
“Oh...OH! The egg thingy is glowing! Like, does that mean I’m gonna get my lil cutiemon now?!” Sam asked in a very excited tone. The light shone from the egg as Mimi continued to lick the egg. Yatina seemed unphased by her makeshift bed as it glowed brightly and began to hatch.
Meanwhile on the other side of the ruins...
“How are you feeling?” asked John as he sat next to Gryzmon.
“I am feeling much better, thank you for asking,” Gryzmon said as it scanned the woods for any signs of their pursuers.
“Do you think they’ll find us?” John asked the bear-like digimon.
“It is a good possibility. Labramon have a strong sense of smell, so they may be able to follow us if the Wendimon forces one to hunt for us,” Gryzmon told John plainly.
“Well, with my Tailmon and BlackTailmon, the derps’ two digimon, and potentially Shelly and Sam’s, we have quite the **** to deal with them now,” John said with determination in his voice. For the first time since his group was isekai’d into this world, they now had the means to not only defend themselves but potentially fight back. John was warily optimistic about their chances in any fights that may happen in the future.
“That is true. Those two, derps, as you call them are quite strong despite their naïveté. Their ability to speed up a digimon’s evolution is a remarkable ability. Only Culumon has a similar ability but one of those hasn’t been seen in many years,” Gryzmon told John.
“Yeah, they are certainly something. But they are good girls and listen to me. Well...most of the time. Sometimes...yeah they do want a lot and we’re all just in for the ride…” conceded John as he let out a sigh. Gryzmon let out a chuckle at John’s sudden admission.
“Children can be like that, yes,” Gryzmon said with what seemed like knowledge of what it was like to have a child. John thought this weird since digimon did not have children in the normal sense. Gryzmon. Every time I think I understand something about you, you throw a curveball at me and make me wonder what you really are.
“You speak as you have had some. I didn’t think that was normal for a digimon,” John asked Gryzmon. He decided a direct approach may get him the information he wanted or, at the very least, a clue to what Gryzmon’s past.
“A digimon does not have a child like a human does, no,” confirmed Gryzmon. “Although some digimon may, I guess, adopt a digimon under it’s wing and teach them,” explained the digimon.
“Oh, so you adopted a digimon?” asked John, now very curious.
“No, I never adopted a digimon,” Gryzmon told John. He could tell it was the truth, but not the whole truth. This whole thing gave John a nasty itch that he had to get to the bottom of, but was not quite sure how to go about it. Hmm. I’ll have to play this by ear. Gryzmon is clearly hiding something from me, but I can’t tell if it’s malicious or just personal. I’ll just have to keep chipping away at its armor to see if I can get an answer. John, with his thoughts in order, decided to get up and do a quick patrol around the forest’s edge.
John made his way over to the forest’s edge, a quick glance over his shoulder showed the two derps with Sam’s digitama while Sam, Shelly, and Darcmon looked on. With them in a safe position, John focused his attention on the forest. His eyes scanned the edge, ready to pinpoint any potential problems that may arise. His patrol seemed to go well since he saw nothing on the horizon that looked like a threat.
As John walked by a particularly thick set of brush, he heard the brush rustle. He immediately stopped and slowly turned around to face the greenery. His eyes keenly glanced all around the brush, they scanned for any movement, any broken branch, anything that would be out of place. After a few moments with nothing that seemed out of the ordinary, John decided to continue his patrol.
Retriever Ba-- John heard from behind. He barely could turn to see a Labramon about to attack. John knew he did not have enough time to dodge the attack and prepared to take the blast head on.
“Neko Punch!"
“Neko Kick!"
Suddenly, John’s two digimon, Tailmon and BlackTailmon, appeared and interrupted the Labramon’s attack.
“Quick John, we must go!” Tailmon told John.
“There’s a lot more of those dirty dogs coming. Plus that damn Wendimon,” BlackTailmon informed John.
“Alright, let’s regroup with the rest,” John said as he turned and began to head back.
“Faster!” both his digimon yelled as a whole pack of Labramon appeared from the edge of the forest and all charged towards John and his digimon.
“EVERYONE! WE HAVE A PROBLEM!” John yelled to get the group’s attention. He ran full speed, his arms flailed around him in an effort to get everyone’s attention.
“Corona Flame!”
“Tear Shoot!”
The derps’ two digimon had quickly answered John’s call as they launched attack after attack to give John and his two digimon time to regroup with the rest. Gryzmon and Darcmon stood in front of the rest of the group, ready to intercept any Labramon that got close to the defenseless humans and baby digimon.
“La Puccelle!” shouted Darcmon as it unsheathed its sword and slashed it at the enemy Labramon. A copy of the blade, made from light, shot forth from the weapon and ran through multiple Labramon.
“Crescent Dawn!” shouted Gryzmon as it slashed at any and all Labramon that approached the giant bear-like digimon.
“You ok?” asked Shelly.
“Ya, like, where’d you find that squad?” asked Sam as she watched the digimon behind John fight off the horde of dog-like digimon.
“One tried to ambush me as I was patrolling the forest perimeter. Luckily, Tailmon and BlackTailmon had shadowed me and was able to take out that Labramon. Unfortunately, there was a lot more,” John told the two women that stood before him. He looked around real quick. “Is Gali not back yet?” he asked the two, who shook their heads in the negative.
“Like we do have a new addition to our fam, tho!” Sam said with a big smile as she pointed to Mimi and Yaya who played with a new digimon. A yellow blob-like digimon with beady red eyes and a mischievous smile happily played with the two derps.
“Well that’s good. Once those two get to the child level, we’ll actually have a decent fighting . But for now, let’s deal with these damn Labramon,” John told the two ladies who nodded at him.
