Watch TV before dinner

After the gathering broke up, you decided to watch tv while waiting for dinner and headed to the living room where your main entertainment system was set up. You sat down and got comfortable while Starfire and Aelita talked at your side. You flip through the channels trying to find something to watch.

You noticed an episode of Survival Island: Variety was airing and saw that the prime world contestant had found a stasis pod with a Kida from Atlantis: The Lost Empire inside. The guy was struggling to convince her he didn’t kidnap her and to work together. The Lara Croft that was with him was eventually able to convince her to join them in building shelter and gathering food.

“I almost went on that show, “ you commented offhandedly.

“I am kinda confused, what are they doing? And why isn’t anyone rescuing them if we are able to see them,” Erza asked, who decided to join us, as she watched the prime-worlder get help crossing a river.

“It's a show where they drop a prime-worlder on an island and scatter a bunch of characters across it. They have to figure out how to survive on the island for however long they can,” you explain, watching with mild interest as Lara and Kida made basic bows after a time skip. “They have to either make it off the island on their own or they say a key phrase and they will be rescued. They get basic supplies and they have to decide if it's worth it to open a stasis pod as new characters will drain resources if they aren’t useful.”

“Is this for survival training or a challenge?”

“Kinda, if they make it off the island without saying the rescue phrase they get to keep all the characters they have in their group plus money for how long they were on the island, which if why some might risk running out of supplies if a great character is up for grabs. If the phrase is used, they get to keep only some, usually only the ones they found first,” you finish giving the premise as the show went to commercial. Erza made an unimpressed noise.

“I remember there being a season the showrunners were **** to end because it ran too long. The contestant got very lucky with the characters and ended up starting a self-sufficient village with no signs of wanting to leave the island with not even ‘natural’ disasters getting him to move,” you chuckle remembering the broadcast of the guy struggling while getting dragged to a rescue helicopter with their characters just facepalming at his actions. You were going to change the channel while it was on commercial when Erza shouted.

“Lucy!” You snapped to the screen where you see a bound and struggling Lucy on screen next to a somewhat famous infomercial personality.
