How does Reinette respond?
"I give up."
"What was that?" Clara said with a smirk. "I couldn't quite hear you down there."
"I. Give. Up!" Reinette replied, anger creeping into her voice despite her position. Clara winked at her before looking away.
"I thought you might say that," she said, making no effort to release her victim. "You gave it a good effort, but with this get-up? Hard to fight very well." She grabbed an end of Reinette's dress, swishing it about for emphasis; she still held her legs in her other arm.
"Very well," Reinette said cooly, trying to maintain some dignity. "I concede to your victory. You may do with His Majesty as you wish, I will not stand in your way."
"The king?" Clara said dismissively. "I was only giving him the time of day to rile you up. Trust me, I don't have any intention of changing your future. I just wanted a chance to tussle with you." She leaned back a little, seeming to settle in place, bending Reinette's legs that much further in the process. Reinette took an awkward breath as Clara's weight pressed down on her throat.
"Either way, you have your victory," she continued, her voice slightly strained. "Will you at least be gracious in success?" Clara turned her head again, looking down at her defeated opponent.
