"You should learn to take risks, John," she says. "I'm willing to bet 50% of whatever he's offering you."

"What do you mean? If it's a scolding you'll take half the punishment?"

She nods, trying to appear confident. "And if it is a reward, we should split it likewise, 50-50."

"What if it's some dumb responsibility?"

"Well, I promise to help you out, 50-50."

"So what do I get for listening to you?" I ask.

She moves closer to me and whispers hoarsely, "Would you want to fuck me?" I try to control the blush on my face as we approach the door to Dr. Zhang's office. Jennifer squeezes my arm and heads to my right for the ladies room. "Let me know how it goes!" she adds with a wink of her eye.

I knock on the door and I hear Dr. Zhang's tenor voice say, "Come in." As I enter, he points to a seat in front of his desk. "Have a seat, John. I have a proposition for you."

I stare at him open-mouthed, expecting a reprimand for dozing in class. "Okay?" I say, quite unsure of myself.

"I know what you can do, John. You had a stellar performance in Entrepreneurship 101 last semester, and it looks like you are bored with my class now."

"Nothing of that sort, Dr. Zhang. I was ..."

"Hear me out first, John. My wife's sister, Ofelia, owns an apartment building along Second Street. But since she has relocated to a warmer region for health reasons, no one is left to manage the property."

My mind drifts to images of Mrs. Zhang. Although Dr. Zhang has an average height, his wife has the body of a statuesque model and is a few inches taller than he is. Ofelia would probably have the same proportions. I quickly switch focus back to Dr. Zhang as he continues to speak.

"... since I'll be requiring the class to make a Feasibility Study, you would have a more challenging requirement, as you're already starting with an existing business, and I would presume you have read the entire textbook by now. So, are you mentally ready to manage the apartments?"

I look at him in surprise. "You'd entrust your sister-in-law's apartments to me?"

He looked at me as if I was not listening to him at all. "Remember, it's just one month, and you are graded for what you do. Do you need time to think?"

"Can I partner with one of my classmates? It looks like a big task for a single person."

"Ofelia has been managing that business for four years now, and she isn't a business major. But if you think you really need a partner, you'll get the same grades, regardless of who does what. Understood?"

I nod.
