with no shelter in sight, just keep walking
You continue to trod through the desert, suicidally, as you hope against hope you're heading in the right direction, and that somehow you'll get there in time. You keep walking, as your muscles grow weak with fatigue and dehydration. You have sweat off most of your moisture and you collapse into the sand, your eyes going blurry and then dark.
You convulse in pain and begin to shiver as you suffer the throes of heatstroke. Eventually, you succumb to the elements and die.
