the flight

Chapter 11

The airport had been chaos—security lines, gate changes, the constant hum of travelers rushing toward their destinations. Paul navigated it all with surprising ease, Jackie's body moving through space with practiced efficiency. The heels that should have slowed him down felt natural. The designer carry-on wheeled smoothly behind him. Everything fit.

They boarded first class—Gerry's parents' wedding gift—and settled into wide leather seats with champagne waiting. Paul accepted his flute with a smile that was pure Jackie: warm, grateful, tinged with excitement.

But underneath, Paul was drowning.

The night before replayed in his mind on loop—sensations he couldn't process, pleasure that had rewired his understanding of his own body, Gerry's hands and mouth on skin that wasn't his. He didn't know how to feel. Didn't know who he was anymore.

So he did what Paul had always done when confusion threatened: he leaned into performance. Into swagger. Into the armor of confidence that had gotten him through every uncertain moment of his life.

The plane leveled off at cruising altitude. Flight attendants dimmed the cabin lights. Most passengers settled in for the long flight to Hawaii, pulling out books or closing their eyes.

Paul leaned into Gerry's space, letting his shoulder brush against his husband's arm. "Hope the honeymoon suite has soundproof walls," he murmured, voice dropping into a register that was pure sultry promise—Jackie's tone, Paul's intent.

Gerry's eyes widened. A flush crept up his neck. "Paul—"

"Mrs. Carver," Paul corrected with a wicked smile. His hand found Gerry's, fingers threading together. "We're newlyweds, remember? Supposed to be all over each other."

"People are watching."

"Let them watch." Paul shifted in his seat, uncrossing his legs slowly, deliberately. The movement made the hem of his dress ride up slightly, exposing more thigh. "That's what newlyweds do. They can't keep their hands off each other."

Gerry's gaze tracked the movement despite himself. "You're enjoying this too much."

"Maybe." Paul leaned closer, lips brushing the shell of Gerry's ear. "Or maybe I'm just trying not to think too hard about what's happening to me."

The honesty startled them both. Gerry turned his head, close enough that their noses almost touched. "Paul—"

"Don't." Paul's playful mask slipped for just a moment. "If I think about it—about who I am, what we did, what this all means—I'll lose it. So yeah, I'm enjoying this. I'm playing the part. Because what else am I supposed to do?"

Gerry's hand tightened around his. "I don't know."

"Me neither." Paul's smile returned, sharp-edged and defensive. "So let's just be what everyone expects us to be. The perfect newlywed couple. The hot bride and her devoted husband." His free hand traced patterns on Gerry's thigh beneath the blanket the flight attendant had provided. "We can figure out the rest later."

"We're on a plane."

"I know where we are." Paul's hand moved higher, bolder. "Question is, do you care?"

Gerry's breath caught. Around them, the cabin was quiet—other passengers dozing, reading, lost in their own worlds. The first-class privacy curtain separated them from coach. The dim lighting created pockets of shadow.

Paul's fingers found the zipper of Gerry's jeans.

"Jesus Christ," Gerry hissed, catching his wrist. "What are you doing?"

"Testing boundaries." Paul's eyes glittered with challenge and something wilder, more desperate. "Seeing how far this goes. How far we go."

"Someone will see."

"Then be quiet." Paul's other hand slid up his own thigh, disappearing beneath the blanket. "Or watch."

The dual sensation hit Paul immediately—his fingers against Jackie's skin, the warmth building between his legs, the knowledge that Gerry was watching him, conflicted and aroused in equal measure.

Paul's eyes fluttered closed. His hand moved in slow circles, exploring territory that still felt foreign but increasingly familiar. The pleasure built differently here—not a straight line to climax but waves that crested and fell, each one higher than the last.

His breathing quickened. Small sounds escaped his throat—breathy, feminine, impossible to suppress completely.

Gerry's hand covered his, stopping the movement. "Not here."

"Yes here." Paul's eyes opened, meeting Gerry's with fierce intensity. "I need—" He couldn't finish the sentence. Didn't have words for what he needed.

Gerry's resolve cracked. His hand slid beneath the blanket, replacing Paul's fingers with his own. Higher. More purposeful.

Paul bit down on his lower lip hard enough to taste copper. Gerry's touch was different—more experienced, more knowing. His fingers found the edge of Paul's underwear, hesitated, then slipped beneath the silk.

The contact was electric. Paul's back arched involuntarily, pressing into the touch. His hand shot out, gripping Gerry's arm for anchor as sensation flooded through nerves he was still learning to navigate.

This was insane. They were on a plane. Surrounded by people. But Paul couldn't bring himself to care. The pleasure was too intense, too all-consuming.

Gerry's fingers moved with practiced skill, finding every sensitive spot, applying pressure exactly where Jackie's body craved it. Paul squirmed in his seat, fighting to keep his expressions neutral while his body betrayed him with every tremor.

What the hell is happening to me? The thought flashed through Paul's mind even as his hips rolled against Gerry's hand. This wasn't him. He didn't respond like this. He was the one who gave pleasure, not received it.

But Jackie's body had different rules. Different responses. And God help him, Paul was drowning in them.

This is insane—I'm letting my best friend finger me on a plane—

But it didn't feel wrong. It felt incredible. The shame he knew he should feel was buried under wave after wave of building pleasure.

Gerry's thumb found Paul's center through the silk, circling with maddening precision. His other fingers traced patterns that made Paul's vision blur.

Holy shit, holy shit, don't make noise—

Paul's free hand gripped the armrest, knuckles white. His thighs trembled. The pleasure built and built, layers upon layers, nothing like the quick release of his male body. This was slower, deeper, more consuming.

God, I never knew it could feel like this—

Gerry leaned close, lips against Paul's ear. "Let go," he whispered. "I've got you."

The words shattered Paul's last restraint. His body seized, muscles locking as climax crashed over him in waves that seemed endless. His mouth opened in a silent gasp, back arching, toes curling in the ankle boots.

I can't believe I'm about to come from this—

The orgasm rolled through Jackie's body with devastating intensity—not a single peak but multiple crests, each one stealing his breath, making his vision white out at the edges. Paul's fingers dug into Gerry's arm hard enough to bruise, his body clenching rhythmically around Gerry's trapped fingers.

Fuck it, if this is what being a woman is like, I'm all in.

The thought crystallized with perfect clarity even as aftershocks rippled through his borrowed body. This was power. This was pleasure beyond anything Paul had known. And in that moment, he understood why Jackie had always seemed so comfortable in her skin.

Because this body was a weapon. A source of sensation so intense it rewrote reality.

Paul slumped against the seat, chest heaving beneath the dress. Gerry's hand withdrew slowly, carefully. Paul felt the loss like a physical ache.

Around them, the cabin remained oblivious. The man across the aisle dozed. The flight attendant passed by without a second glance. Two newlyweds sharing a blanket was nothing remarkable.

Paul turned his head to look at Gerry. Their eyes met. Gerry's expression was complicated—arousal, guilt, confusion, and something darker Paul couldn't name.

"What are we doing?" Gerry's voice was barely audible.

Paul's smile was languid, satisfied, dangerous. "Living the honeymoon fantasy." His hand found Gerry's again, fingers still slick. "Getting to know each other."

"This isn't knowing each other. This is—"

"What? Wrong? Fucked up?" Paul's laugh was breathless. "Yeah. But it's also incredible. Don't pretend you didn't just get off on that."

Gerry couldn't deny it. His own arousal was obvious, straining against his jeans.

"Two weeks," Paul said softly. "We have two weeks in Hawaii. Alone. In paradise." His fingers traced patterns on Gerry's thigh. "Question is, are we going to spend it fighting this? Or are we going to explore it?"

"Explore what?"

"This." Paul gestured between them. "Whatever this is becoming. Because I felt it, Gerry. Just now. The way your body responded. The way mine responded. That wasn't just mechanics. That was—" He searched for words. "—chemistry. Connection. Something real."

"It's not real. You're in Jackie's body—"

"And you just made me come harder than I've ever come in my life." Paul's voice was fierce, honest. "That's real. The way you touched me—like you knew exactly what I needed—that's real. The fact that I want you to do it again is real."

Gerry's hand moved to cup Paul's face, thumb stroking his cheekbone. The gesture was tender, achingly familiar. "I don't know if I'm falling for you or for the illusion of her."

"Does it matter?" Paul leaned into the touch. "We're stuck in this, Gerry. For two weeks minimum. Maybe forever if we can't figure out how to reverse it. So we can either torture ourselves about what's right and wrong, or we can—"

"What? Pretend this is normal?"

"Learn to live in the reality we have." Paul's eyes held Gerry's. "I'm not saying it's simple. I'm not saying it doesn't scare the hell out of me. But I'm done fighting it. This body—" He placed Gerry's hand over his heart. "—responds to you. Wants you. And I don't have the strength to deny that anymore."

Gerry's fingers splayed across Paul's chest, feeling the rapid heartbeat beneath. "What about Jackie? The real Jackie?"

Paul's expression flickered. Guilt. Then something harder. "She's not here. I am."

"That's not fair to her."

"Nothing about this is fair." Paul's voice dropped. "But she's in my body. Living my life. What do you think she's doing right now? Sitting alone pining for us? Or figuring out how to survive in a form that's not hers?"

The question hung unanswered. They both knew Jackie was struggling. Knew she was in pain. But that knowledge felt distant, abstract, impossible to process when Paul was sitting here warm and alive and wanting.

"Two weeks," Paul repeated. "Let's just get through two weeks. Figure out what this is. Then we'll deal with the rest."

Gerry nodded slowly. Not agreement, exactly. But surrender to the inevitable.

Paul settled against him, head resting on Gerry's shoulder, Gerry's arm coming around to hold him close. To anyone watching, they were the picture of newlywed bliss—comfortable, intimate, lost in their own world.

Only they knew the impossible truth tangled beneath the surface.

As the plane carried them toward Hawaii, toward sun and sand and privacy, Paul felt something shift inside him. Not just acceptance of the body he wore, but desire for it. Desire to explore every sensation Jackie's form could offer. Desire to be wanted in this new way.

I could get used to this, Paul thought, fingers threading through Gerry's. I could really get used to this.

And that realization was more terrifying than the body swap itself.
