Chapter 44 by casualsvritter

The party split up, one chapter per group? And one to go further?

on the way out, a glimpse of Luli's background

The group had gotten up late the next day, each one sharing as if Angela's old group were in bed, though Angela decided not to participate in the discussion, describing her day with Claire.

Akari: Anyway, what now? There are no more missions in the village, do we have to move?

Sylnohir: I'm all for it! I've slept with everyone in this place now! ... except my dad, who grounded me for a month when I suggested it.

Luli: It's fine with me, though I think it's a shame not to bring Claire's group along, especially Shuf. It's been a while since I've found a real challenge.

Angela: Luli? Are you falling in love? You? It's the first time I've felt you're interested in someone!

Luli: Psff no, but so far she's been the person I've liked the most in bed since I've known you.

Angela nodding: I see, I'll have to try harder with you.

Akari: Anyway, sister, where are we headed now?

Angela: Are you asking me?

Akari: Yes? After all, you're the one who promised to take me on an adventure.

Angela: .... Dwarf Innkeeper?

Dwarf Innkeeper: Yes, adventurers?

Angela: We were thinking of leaving. Do you have any news from the nearby towns and villages?

Dwarf Innkeeper: Umm, let me think. I heard to the north, at the Loose Belt mountain range, the Harpies are attacking passing merchants. Then to the northeast is the Duchy of Whiplash. It seems the young lady has disappeared. She was supposed to be married in a month. If anyone finds her, she'll get a large reward. To the southeast, at the Mermaid Lagoon, they recently built a trading village, Pearlpool. Maybe they'll have some work for you. To the west, there's...

Akari: Our home... I mean, the village where I left with my sister. I'd say we can skip it.

The dwarf nodded.

Dwarf Innkeeper: And finally, to the northwest, I heard about a city a bit far away called Hardspear. They've opened a mine that leads underground and are having some unpleasant encounters with the inhabitants of the underworld.

Akari peeks out the window.

Akari: Had anyone noticed that mountain range before? It's huge! How could I not see it?

Luli: I vote northwest.

Angela: I don't like underground places, I'd opt for saving the missing lady, so northeast.

Luli: Trust me, I... I've been there before, that lady doesn't need help, she knows how to handle herself.

Akari suspects Luli is hiding something, the dice roll... the dice fall, Akari is convinced Luli is telling the truth.

Sylnohir: Well, I wouldn't mind meeting Akari and Angela's mother. I've been told she's a roof bomb, and she's an elf, maybe she knows my mother.

Luli whispers inaudibly: I think she's your mother.

Akari: So no one wants to go fight the sexy winged women **** merchants?

Angela: Umm, aerial sex.... never thought of that...

Luli: If they're bandits, they'll have a lot of loot...

Sylnohir: I've already met one once, she worked as a postman, not exactly the best without fingers, but quite talented with her tongue.

Akari: Please?

Sylnohir: Okay, but remember that my goal is to find my mother... besides sleeping with new people... maybe I can sleep with my mother? Dad said she was good.

Luli: I'd say go to the mountains, but we're not going to the duchy afterward. I... I have a bounty out there for being a thief and a bandit, there'd be problems, and the mountains are too close to the place.

I roll group intelligence... failed... failed... failed.

Akari: Oh, I get it, it makes total sense!

Angela: Don't worry, Luli, you've been making up for your crimes since you joined us. The sooner I get it, the better, the bounty will be torn to shreds.

Sylnohir: If we run into anyone who wants to arrest you, I'll seduce them so you can run away.

Luli:... thanks, girls, I appreciate it.

The direction is chosen! Will Claire resurface to stop Angela? Will they encounter any trouble along the way? Will they encounter bounty hunters searching for the "noble runaway"? Or harpies?
