Astrid returned to the sanctuary to find the others waiting. Babette had transferred to an older woman who looked to be older than the previous child she had possessed. Meanwhile Nazir, Veezara, and Gabriella were chatting while Festus was working on who knows what. Lastly was Astrid’s husband, Arnbjorn. Not exactly an exclusive relationship, but one that Astrid remained mostly loyal to. Mostly. There were arranged agreements every now and then as Arnbjorn understood that Astrid was not completely committed and liked to explore.

“I still don’t understand why I have to be in this old person’s body,” Babette groaned. “It’s not fair.”

“Because you ARE old, Babette. And it’s about time that you start looking like it,” Gabriella said.

“You’re just jealous because I never had to age like you,” Babette said.

“I hope everyone is getting along,” Astrid said. “We have a newcomer. And you all better be on your best behavior.”

“Yes, Astrid,” they all said in unison.

“Good. In the meantime, I’ll be in my quarters. Do let me know when our guest arrives. I imagine she’ll probably take some time to get here,” Astrid said. “Arnbjorn, could you join me?”

He grinned as he nodded, following her into her personal quarters.
