You have to realize that the way back got to you despite your lineage. You tried to let her walk, but the stupid cunt didn't move a millimeter under her power and so you had to carry her back. Upon reaching the encampment gate, you were at your wit's end. The guards had already alerted your superiors and you are expected by them and a few heavily armed guards. In front of them, you sink to your knees out of exhaustion and let the woman fall ungently from your shoulder so that the air is pressed out of her lungs and she gives a loud groan paired with a sigh.

"Recruit Doe, what is the meaning of this?" The centurion asks you standing over you. He kept his hand on his sword and the guards also had their spears pointed at you and your cargo.

"Lord..." You breathe deeply and heavily. His name won't come to you, so you just leave the salutation and continue to report, panting. "It was an ambush. They're all dead. This is the last surviving attacker." With that, you point to the bundle lying on the ground. The guards relax a bit and the centurion also loosens his grip on his sword.

"You mean to tell me you were attacked and everyone else but you is dead?" The centurion inquires suspiciously. "Yes, lord just that." You gasp, since the salutation hasn't been the problem so far, you just keep using it.

"How many attackers were there and where?" He asked with eyes glittering with anger and grabbed you. He shook you a bit and you realize you are too exhausted to do anything about it. "After about 30 km they attacked from ambush. The first of us fell without being able to draw our weapons. But we fought bravely. I managed to kill one attacker, these I left alive to get information, but I didn't get any." You had figured out the reasoning for their survival along the way. But with you being so at the end of your rope, you hadn't believed it then.

"Reinforce the guards and have the 79th Centurion recover our dead. Take him to the hospital and interrogate these." With that, he kicks the bound woman. Then he walks back into the camp with a quick stride and billowing cloak. An older soldier shouts. "Sound the alarm. Man the parapet." You can still feel your arms being grabbed and you are carried away, then darkness surrounds you.
