Chapter 48 by Almax Almax

Well, that wasn't good......

Zzzzzzzz

You're not sure how long you're asleep for, but it's probably been a while, because when you wake up the lights in the bathroom aren't on. Also, you're still in the bathroom -- did Delilah really just leave with you still in here? That's so rude! You'd never do something that mean to her.

You lift your face up from the cold tile and slowly push your body up to your feet. You can still see a little bit, from a tiny amount of evening light coming in through the window, so you at least know where you are, even if you're a bit groggy.

With one hand on the sinks, you rub your eyes and shuffle over towards the door. If it's really as late as the windowlight suggests it is, then you might be in a bit of trouble, because the buses would've left for the weekend already. Didn't anybody from your class come to get you after Delilah came back alone?

Thankfully, the door's unlocked when you try the handle. You push out into the hallways and blink a few times. Huh. The entire stretch of hall also has all of its lights of. There are streams of light coming from a few windows that run down it, but it's yellowed and dim, and soon fades out. For a good-sized distance between each window, the ground and walls are in complete darkness.

This is bad! That doesn't mean the university's closed, right?? You were thinking that there'd still be some teachers walking around, that might be able to get you home. Why's it closed? They closed without checking in the bathrooms?!

Okay, don't panic. You step out from the doorway and slowly creep your way down the dim hall, footfalls silent on the carpet. It's definitely too long to walk home, and it'll be completely dark out pretty soon if you tried it, so that's out, but there might still be some later-timed buses that can take you home. Maybe. W-worst case, you can nab some food from the Food Court's stores, spent the night in your room, and then try walking home tomorrow..... i-if you can figure out the way, and don't get too tired, and-

WHAT WAS THAT? You whizz your head around from side to side, trying to catch a glimpse of something or some movement, but you don't see anything -- you could've sworn you heard the rushing sound of something sprinting, far off. Oh, man, oh man, this is really creepy! Y-you don't need to check at the bus stop anymore, actually, you should just head up to your room and lock yourself in there. It'll be fun, l-like a little sleepover. E-except that you'll be the only thing in there! Okay, sleepover was a bad example.

You do your best to stay in the light part of the hallways. When stepping into the darkness is unavoidable, you break into a quick dash across to the light of the next window as you make your way towards the staircase. You'll be in your room in no time, for sure! It'll be easy.....

As you pass each window, you don't look outside any of them. You're not sure exactly why, but every part of your body screams at you to do that, so you listen. Alright..... alright, this is okay. About halfway down the hall, and halfway to the stairs on the other side that'll take you to your room, you pass one of the double-doored glass doorways that leads out into the Courtyard. You can't resist but peek outside, tucking most of your body up against the wall with your little nose poking over.

The grass is a bit dewy, and it's still only evening light, but since there's no roof or anything it's a bit brighter than the hallways. You dart your eyes around the area. The Arena tent's still up, with its big sign, and there's a circle of scary, branch-shaped grasping darkness around the base of each of the few trees planted there, but you don't see anyone out there. O-or anything.....

Standing there still for so long, you become more aware of the absolute mess in your pants that Delilah rubbed out of you as a cold wind rushes up your pants leg. I-it's still not fully dried up yet..... but it really seems like you might be alone in here. It can't be later than six or seven. Maybe it's part of everybody living here during the schoolweek, there's not much reason to stay when it gets to the weekend.....{if CumSuccess == 2} Oh, crap, and you were supposed to let Professor Phoebe help you out with that thing with the weird girls too. Oh no..... oh this is really bad, actually.{endif}

Wait! You snap your focus back on the Courtyard again, because you're pretty sure that you just saw something rush across the grass on the other side. I-it could've been wind brushing it around, but..... if it wasn't, then whatever it is is a lot shorter than most humans since you didn't see it. M-maybe a rabbit? Or something else that moves on all fours.....

....

Y-you shouldn't be scared right now. You're supposed to be training to be a Warrior, why are you scared? You're frozen in place tucked behind the wall next to those glass doors, waiting for something else to jump out and do something, but nothing happens.

Okay. Okay! Good!

Moving very slowly, you pull back from the wall and take a deep breath. Then, you tiptoe as quickly as you can past the two glass doors and over to the other side. From here, you go back to slowly padding your way across the carpet and to the stairs. You left your stuff in the classroom from earlier, b-but you can just get it later, when it's brighter.

The wooden stairs aren't as quiet as the soft carpet. You look hesitantly at the hard wood before stealing yourself and slowly lifting your foot and gently planting it on the step. Then you bring your other foot up to stand on the same step in just the same way.

Moving like this, you ever-so-carefully make your way up the stairs so that you can get to your room. Each time, you prod the steps testingly with your toes to check for any creaky ones. You find a few, but since you're going slow and gentle, they're only able to whisper out their groans before you can find another spot to step.

You get to the second floor, and slowly walk the halls towards your room....
