Zia: The Attack

The sounds of battle were unmistakeable, and Zia doesn't plan on taking any chances. She leaps to the half-rotten door and slams it shut. She pulls down the heavy oaken door bar, before retreating to the relative safety of the far corner of the room.

The sounds of battle are coming closer.

Zia prepares a spell and holds it, ready to unleash hellfire on anyone coming through that door.

The clang of weapons sounds directly outside.

Zia plants her feet, holding her ground.

Suddenly the door explodes inward, followed swiftly by the body of one of Zia's soldiers. Zia's eyes track the course of her fallen comrade, finding the source of her flight.

Then she sees it. It is massive, appearing as a mountain of black steel, and it's shoulders are draped with a black fur cloak. It wields a sword of titanic proportions in one hand, as if it were nothing.

The black-armored figure steps forward, into the room, and Zia, panicking, fires off her spell.

A torrent of flame engulfs the armored creature, and Zia smirks. The armored figure may have been intimidating, but nothing could have survived that.

Her smirk, however, soon falls away, replaced by the horrified face of one faced with certain doom.

The beast was still standing. The flames rage around it, but the fire seems to shy away from it's terrible form.

Zia raises her hands, trying to think of another spell, but it is too late. The beast crosses the distance between them in two massive bounds, it's hand closing around Zia's neck. Zia grasps at the thing's fingers, desperately trying to pull them apart, but to no avail, she is straining against bands of iron.

Darkness begins to close in on Zia's vision as the creature lifts her off of the ground. Somewhere, in the distance, she hears a voice, but she can't seem to make out the words.

_It probably isn't important anyway... _Zia thinks as the darkness overtakes her.
