Zal – Clean Water 2

Catherine jumps when she sees the tablet enter her field of view. She is sitting bend over a single book in front of one of many reading desks, a magical lamp illuminating the lecture. To Zal’s delight she always puts back books once she has read them. She turns her head to give Zal a thankful, but tired, smile. “Thank you, Zal.” She says and takes a bite of the bread. “Haven’t you been here a moment ago, though?” She asks with food stuffed into her mouth as she wolfs down the next bite. “It has been 12 hours, Mistress Catherine.” Or at least this was what the weird contraption Uklag called a ‘magical clock’ said. Zal prefers the natural way to tell the time by looking at the sun but doing so would mean that he would have to go outside every time he wanted to know.

Of course he doesn’t have time for that. “12? I only finished three books.” Catherine panickly says and speeds about the eating process. “I’m behind schedule. I- “ She starts coughing. Zal, looking at this scene for maybe the tenth time, calmly hands her a glass of water.

“When are you going to leave the library?” Zal asks with great interest, maybe Catherine would be able to talk some sense into the twins. “Dunno.” She sloppily answers answer and forces her messy hair back behind her ear. She hasn’t left the library in two weeks and looks the part.

“You really should take a bath, mistress.” ‘And take a look at the situation.’ Catherine finishes the last bit of food and turns back to her book. “Can’t too much knowledge to gain.” “At least eat with us once.” ‘And look at our floors’ “I told you. No time.” Zal almost sighs, but that would be unbecoming in front of his masters apprentice.

“Very well then, Mistress.” He says and grabs the tablet.
